The first such sightings were reported from Oklahoma, and it is thought that the objects, the nature of which is unknown, may have originated in Russia. In July 1945, an unidentified aircraft, described as a "silo," was seen by an Eastern Airlines pilot and one or two passengers of the plane over Pensacola, Florida. This incident was reported to have been of an unexplained nature, without any known cause or explanation. Since then, numerous other sightings have been reported, including lights seen in the vicinity of Los Angeles, described as a brilliant light, similar to a searchlight or a flying saucer. Some reports have given the color of the light as red, others as orange, and some as a greenish or bluish hue. The lights have been seen to move in a peculiar manner, and some have been described as having a metallic appearance. It is noted that the structure of one of the lights has been observed to be similar to a copper coil, and it is suggested that this may be a clue to the nature of the objects. The objects have been seen to move at high speeds, and some have been reported to have been seen to be of a size similar to that of a jet propelled plane. The sightings have been reported by various individuals, including airline pilots, military personnel, and civilians. On January 6, 1949, a mother and child were seen to have been in a similar object in the skies over Los Angeles. It is suggested that the sightings may be connected to some type of jet propelled plane or object, but the nature of the objects remains unknown.
