Included is a memorandum, dated April seventeenth, nineteen fifty, as follows: At approximately eighteen hundred thirty hours on April fourteenth, nineteen thirty, the investigator, Sergeant H. I. E. R. I. D. E. N., was interviewed regarding his observation of an unconventional aircraft in the Port Monmouth area, Middletown Township, New Jersey. The sergeant reported that at approximately fourteen thirty hours on April fourteenth, nineteen thirty, while traveling in a northeasterly direction on Wilson Avenue, approximately one quarter mile south of State Highway six, approaching Port Monmouth, he observed four objects in the sky. He immediately stopped his vehicle and dismounted for a better view. The four objects were approaching from the vicinity of Keyport, New Jersey, and were flying south in the direction of Sea Bright, New Jersey. Each object appeared to be rectangular in shape, approximately three feet wide by three to four feet long, one foot thick, amber colored, entirely flat‑surfaced without concave or convex bulges, and without wings, tails, or wheels. The objects were grouped together in a fairly close, disorganized formation and appeared to be flying at an altitude of approximately two thousand five hundred feet with an air speed of approximately seventy‑three to one hundred miles per hour. The position of each object in the formation was constantly changing in a rapid but non‑systematic manner, without a definite pattern. The objects would either accelerate, decelerate, move right or move left very rapidly. The entire formation constantly rose and fell in a smooth coordinated movement, although each object was constantly changing its position in the formation.
