COMMENTS Object stationary in sight until disappearance Sighting characteristic of astro body Arcturus at 30-degree elevation to 280-degree azimuth Disappearance attributed to probable in-cloud condition Case evaluated as star Arcturus A second report, dated July 19, 1951, was submitted to the Air Force Liaison Office by the 2nd Army, AF Liaison Office, ALO 331. This report is a summary of the sighting and includes an attachment with the original report. SUBJECT: Unconventional Aircraft TO: Commanding General, First Air Force, Mitchel Air Force Base, New York Pursuant to instructions contained in letter, Department of the Air Force, Rq, USAF, APOICC-L, dated 8 September 1950, the attached report is submitted. FOR THE COMMANDING GENERAL R. W. BUTMAN Captain, USAF Assistant Air Adjutant General A second report, dated July 19, 1951, was submitted to the Headquarters Second Army by the Transportation Corps, Fort Eustis, Virginia. This report includes a summary of the sighting and an attachment with the original report. SUBJECT: Unconventional Aircraft TO: Commanding General, Headquarters Second Army, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland In accordance with Department of the Army Intelligence Collection Memorandum Number 29, dated 3 November 1950, the attached report of unconventional aircraft is forwarded for action deemed necessary. This document is a declassified report of an unidentified aerial object sighting in Newport News, Virginia, in 1951.
