The letter states: “After conducting his art this matter and it being noted, appear in print which could be as late as November, nineteen sixty‑nine, a….” The memorandum continues: “The Bureau is aware that the timing of the release of these items would cause internal dissension within its ranks. In all probability, with suspicion, it could possibly result in resigning from the BPP.” The document then references two separate news items concerning the Black United Front (BUF). The first item, dated September nineteenth, nineteen sixty‑nine, is described as potentially embarrassing to the BUF and likely to cause Black leaders to view each other with suspicion.
