A memorandum, in Russian, described a confidential discussion between Wasserman-Schultz and Jeffrey Goldstein, a senior policy advisor for Eurasia at the Open Society Foundations. During the discussion, Wasserman-Schultz characterized the situation in her party in light of the growing scandal surrounding Hillary Clinton. She stated that the leadership of the Democratic Party had known about the information since June 2015 and that President Obama had no intention to darken his legacy by the scandal surrounding the main contender from the Democratic Party. The report also mentions a second memorandum, in Russian, which described a confidential contact between Wasserman-Schultz and Leonard Benardo on March 5. The memorandum stated that Wasserman-Schultz characterized the situation in her party in light of the growing scandal surrounding Hillary Clinton.
