What did the declassified documents reveal?

From the public record, this is Declassified. Today, we present a declassified Central Intelligence Agency record, a secret memorandum from General Headquarters, Far East Command, Military Intelligence Section, General Staff, dated August twenty-fourth, nineteen-fifty. This document addresses critical intelligence questions during the Korean War, including enemy logistics, technical intelligence, and the treatment of American prisoners of war. It is accessible via the Black Vault archives at documents2.theblackvault.com. This document was released by the Central Intelligence Agency under the Freedom of Information Act, with specific exemptions applied during declassification. The release date and case number are not publicly available on the archive entry. Declassification was authorized under an unspecified authority. The memorandum is titled "Questions Submitted by Brigadier General Weckerling." It is addressed to the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-two, General Staff, United States Army, Washington twenty-five, D.C. Question one asks: Have North Koreans used V-T fuzes of Soviet manufacture or from captured United States stores? Answer: It is quite probable that the North Koreans recovered three hundred sixty-eight V-P fuzes V-eighty-zero-five-six and twenty V-T fuzes T-seventy-six-five-nine abandoned by withdrawing U.S. forces on July fourteenth and twentieth. Although the North Koreans conceivably could employ these fuzes against U-N forces, it is more probable that they would be used in research, either in North Korea or the U.S.S.R., and not dissipated tactically. However, a single report has been received stating that on August second, at least four guns fired into U-N positions using proximity fuzes. This could have been time fuzes. Question two: G-two would welcome F-E-C-O-M comments on the amazing logistical support that the North Korean army has furnished in the face of constant daily harassment of the L-O-G and M-S-R. How is the supply of ammunition, gasoline, and equipment maintained in support of a continuous offensive operation of the North Korean forces? Answer: While the interdiction effort has been well carried out by F-E-A-F, the North Koreans have managed to maintain their tempo of operations, although with increasing difficulty, in spite of our air offensive aimed at severing their supply lines. There are two primary reasons why North Korean forces are able to operate in the face of U-N attacks on N-K logistic channels. First, the North Koreans have remarkably small logistic requirements. No Class One, Two, or Four supplies are required, and the Class Three requirements are far below our own, probably in the neighborhood of fifty tons per division per day. Second, the enemy is ingenious at overcoming the effects of disrupted supply lines. When his rail communications are severed, he uses trucks, carts, coolies, pack animals, boats, barges, and a huge force of indigenous bearers. In addition, he has shown marked ability to…
