Review of the mission route, and the intercept attempts against missions on peripheral routes in the past, indicate the possibility of a M‑I‑G‑2‑1 fighter reaction. The most recent A‑O‑B information and other intelligence sources show six M‑I‑G‑2‑1 aircraft at Nanning/Wu Yu airfield, latitude twenty‑two to thirty‑six north, longitude one‑zero‑eight point one zero east, in December nineteen sixty‑seven, and a single M‑I‑G‑2‑1 at Lei Pei airfield, latitude twenty‑one point two four north, longitude one‑one‑zero point one two east, on November seventeenth, nineteen sixty‑seven. Also, the present whereabouts of the five M‑I‑G‑2‑1 aircraft formerly based at Tsanghsien is unknown. 3. There would be only a very remote possibility of a S‑A‑M reaction against the mission if Route One‑zero‑six‑two is flown, as planned, along the periphery and twenty to twenty‑five nautical miles from the mainland.
