All transportation was suspended except for steamship service to Shanghai. Rationing is in force, and many factories have suspended production. END. Wenchou (N 28° 51', E 120° 39°, Chekiang Province) The situation in Wenchou is very complicated. Vehicular traffic has been suspended in the area for several months now. Only the steamships going to Shanghai are still in operation. Many factories have suspended production because of the shortages of coal and ray materials. In short, the situation is tense. Daily commodities are rationed. Wenchou, 28 September. The situation in Wenchou has become more tense. The two factions are attacking each other. Families living in the area where the two factions are located have already moved out. Very serious fighting has been going on for the past two days. The route from Wenchou to Nantang (29° 89', 1848) is not safe to travel. Fighting could break out at any time. Wenchou, 1 October. The two factions in Wenchou are still confronting each other. The road between Wenchou and Chinhua (68° 55', 5478) is still blocked. However, steamboat service to Shanghai is still in operation.
