The reactor is located at an installation associated with Tsinghua University, and university students and faculty are involved. Comment: Tsinghua University, in Peking, has probably been involved in nuclear reactor research in the areas of heat transfer and fluid flow since the late 1950s. The University has had a two‑megawatt thermal research reactor, reportedly similar to the Soviet IRT‑type, since about 1965. The degree of involvement in the nuclear power program on the part of Tsinghua University’s Department of Engineering Physics appears significant.
