I left legacy media to build something different: independent, honest political analysis with no corporate or partisan agenda.
I call balls and strikes ⚾ — because politics needs referees, not cheerleaders.

Governors races don’t get as much attention as Senate and House races because, well, everyone likes a fight for the majority — and these state races don’t have that.
But I have long argued that governors contests are the most important ones on the ballot since a state’s chief executive has considerable power over how a state runs and he/she controls the politics of the state too.
With 36(!) governors races on the ballot in 15 days — including in virtually every 2028 swing state — who wins these critical contests matters a LOT.
Below I ranked the 10 gubernatorial contests I think are most important for the two parties going forward. To be clear: The #1 race isn’t the most likely to flip party control on November 3. Rather it’s the race that matters the most — both now and heading into 2028 — to the two parties.
This post — and ALL future 2026 Senate and gubernatorial rankings as well as my 2028 presidential rankings — will be behind the paywall. This is the sort of insider information and analysis that I believe distinguishes me in the world of independent journalism.
