Simon Andriesz promised more evidence. Then he died. Andriesz blew the whistle on Howard Lutnick. In his final post on X he wrote: "I intend to share more of the evidence and the story behind what happened." He was 57. He died by suicide, The Banker reported Friday. "I don't buy it," Oliver Janich, a German author and former financial journalist, wrote on X. Andriesz died living in fear. Journalist Artur Nadolny reported he was at a trauma treatment center. Andriesz had written that retaliation had been "devastating for my family and me." Lutnick has said nothing about him. Commerce and the FBI did not answer the Daily Beast's questions. Andriesz called the FBI about his boss in 2020, sat for an interview in 2021, and told agents Lutnick "instructed all of the fraud being committed." The Bureau opened nothing. Anyone who lives in a democracy should worry when a whistleblower promises to talk and then dies. What did Lutnick say under oath that Andriesz was about to test?
Flávio Bolsonaro beat Lula in the first round, 47 percent to 45, 2.2 million votes between them. Every pollster had Lula ahead; Datafolha had him up 45 to 42. Lula got the number the polls gave him. Flávio ran five points past his. They meet again in a runoff on October 25, and Flávio walks in with the biggest party in the Chamber and a federal police investigation over money he took from a banker, which he denies. What did the banker's money pay for?
Trump named four officials to run AI for him: spy chief Jay Clayton in the chair, FTC chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon research chief Emil Michael and personnel director Scott Kupor. They answer to Trump and Susie Wiles, not Congress. No law, no budget. Ferguson's FTC is investigating OpenAI and Anthropic. Trump launched a government chatbot that answered the 2020 question on day one and refused it on day two. What did those companies' AI agents do?
Karoline Leavitt joins Fox News as a contributor, Fox said Monday. She starts November 1, two months after she left the podium. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kayleigh McEnany went the same way; Larry Kudlow has Sunday mornings through the midterms. Fox hires the people who spoke for Trump. Trump spent Sunday attacking Fox. What did he threaten?
A technician at Russia's anti-plague institute in Irkutsk died last week. Nearly 200 people are under watch, and Moscow's officials can't agree on what killed her. Rubio calls it "cause for focus." What did she tell the medics?
The Brazil result is not a story from a thousand miles away. Transnational criminal syndicates run the movement that put Netanyahu, Jair Bolsonaro and Trump in power, and when one of them surges, the apparatus behind all of them is pushing. Lula has already put the question to Washington, accusing Trump of putting his thumb on this election. Many fear Trump will do it here in our election.
As Trump puts AI under his own administration, another White House employee exits to Fox, Russian officials contradict each other over what killed their own lab technician, and Commerce and the FBI stay mum while a whistleblower dies amid speculation it wasn’t suicide. This is what authoritarian rule looks like, and it’s here in the U.S.
Friday's FiveStack: Trump's palace plans, a jobs freeze, Iran escalating, Tillis breaking ranks, and the Cornell case.
