Elon Musk throttled Ukraine's drone war on Tuesday night. He did not tell Ukraine. SpaceX restricted Starshield, the military version of Starlink that Ukraine's drones and vehicles run on, so that any terminal moving faster than 100 mph lost its connection. Nobody at SpaceX warned Ukraine's military. Ukraine filed a complaint and learned what had happened from SpaceX customer support. Serhii Beskrestnov, Zelensky's adviser on military technology, said the armed forces "did not receive a warning about these restrictions and this led to the failure of a number of missions." Then he said it harder: "With their actions our partners are depriving us of one of the few chances we have to defend ourselves." The same evening, Putin fired 39 ballistic missiles and 120 attack drones at Kyiv and Kharkiv. The strike hit all three of Kyiv's heat-and-power plants, left at least 600,000 people without power and killed five people in Kyiv.
Kimberly Guilfoyle lost her job on Tuesday, less than a week after Eric Deters' texts surfaced. The next names on his list are Donald Trump's sons. Deters is the Kentucky lawyer who paid Guilfoyle and kept the receipts. By his own count he paid Donald Trump Jr. $200,000 for two appearances and Eric Trump $100,000. He put $125,000 into Trump's PAC and paid $100,000 to go to the Kentucky Derby with Trump. He paid Guilfoyle, Don Jr.'s former fiancée, $300,000. What he wanted for the money was Dr. Abubakar Atiq Durrani brought back from Pakistan, where he fled.
Saudi Arabia broke, and not from OPEC. It broke from the people the war is making rich: the president who holds the war until the vote, the traders who bet minutes before his posts, and Putin, who sells into every spike. The machine is simple. The war keeps oil high, the right people are positioned before each turn, and the price pays for the next round.
Roman Abramovich got rich off the Russian state twice. In the mid-1990s he and Boris Berezovsky bought the oil company Sibneft from the state for about $100 million. In September 2005 the state bought it back. Gazprom paid $13.1 billion. Nobody has ever charged him. Not Britain, which sanctioned him.
Trump woke up on Wednesday to a 3.7 percent inflation number and a 34 percent approval rating. Nixon quit on 24. Gasoline did more than half the month's damage and is up 34 percent on the year.
Trump, his allies, and his funders are betraying the American Constitution and the American people to serve transnational criminal interests that pledge their loyalty to Vladimir Putin. I have been saying it for a decade, but now the evidence is before our eyes. To think that a country based on US values would turn its back on the Ukrainian people is an affront to the thousands of Americans who fought and died for those values and who founded this great American nation. The idea that US troops and money would line up alongside Russia against our Ukrainian allies is the six-alarm fire: our Republic is burning. I’ve been ringing that alarm for ten years. Now is not the time to waver; now is the time to stand up and fight for what you believe in. We are all Ukrainians today, and we will prevail.
