This is the running count of who is getting paid around this administration. It opened on Oct. 8 with four. One week on, nine.
1. Trump's midterm chiefs took a Bosnian Serb government's money. James Blair and Chris LaCivita run Trump's midterm operation. A Washington firm whose client is the government of Republika Srpska paid the two of them, and they helped that government. Trump's answer: they "do not work for me, other than as outside consultants."
Why it matters: The campaign's chiefs billed a Russia-aligned government in the campaign's last month, and the president let them keep the client.
2. Trump bought SpaceX debt two days before he signed its policy. Up to $5 million on Aug. 18, his own disclosure shows; two days later he signed a launch policy calling for more than 1,000 launches a year by 2030. SpaceX does the launching.
Why it matters: The president's money moved the week his pen did.
3. Guilfoyle asked a donor for $100,000 and promised him access. Before her confirmation as ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle asked a Trump donor to pay a $100,000 credit card bill; she denies wrongdoing. This week the White House asked her to resign.
Why it matters: The door had a price before she walked through it, and it took a week and a newspaper to close it.
4. Lukoil's buyers are the negotiators' business partners. Todd Boehly leads the group buying Lukoil's foreign assets; more than half the equity goes to Gulf investors with business ties to Jared Kushner, who sat in the Kremlin when Putin raised the sale. Treasury's deadline is Oct. 22.
Why it matters: A Russian oil empire changes hands through Trump's envoys, and the buyers know the envoys.
