I am definitely freaking out over the price of diesel. It seemed like it just kept going up and up and up on Sunday. It is at $6.20 a gallon now.
And October is an high diesel usage month. So expect prices to go much higher.
And then everything will go much higher. How long is the lag time? I am not sure, but you are guaranteed it is coming.
I hired John Henry on Saturday and we worked like maniacs. I was so tired the next day I couldn’t carry my own groceries at the farmers market the next day.
But we got a huge amount planted and that feels good.
I did get some progress on the rainwater collection system, but I’ve got an opportunity for John Henry to come back so I am switching gears. I’ll delay the rainwater project and switch to getting things setup for the next batch of work with John Henry.
Staying flexible is vitally important in these times. If you have to adjust a schedule to accommodate an opportunity that still moves your overall project forward, then adapt!
Someone asked me if I had plans for the fall. It took me a moment to realize they meant Autumn, and not the collapse of civilization.

His predictions in the next few months are for “violent water” most likely in the US. Sigh, yes, I know there are so many predictions about the coasts not being livable. I keep checking my heart and I love it here.
And, as mentioned, I know I have to stay flexible.
The theater - oh, you mean “war”? continues with this thing and that thing getting blown up. The latest is the Saudi pipeline. The Houti’s have now shut down the Red Sea and 7m bpd of Saudi oil. There is also a big game of tit for tat with blowing up oil tankers.
The message is absolutely clear: YOU WILL NOT BE USING FOSSIL FUELS MUCH LONGER.

Speaking of arguments… I have come to the conclusion that ‘case law’ is simply a gigantic catalog of arguments. Did humanity really need to spend so much time and energy arguing and recording the arguments? No wonder I never wanted to study law.
Oh, I am using nanoGPT which is an AI service where you can select between a lot of different models to try them out. Using a burner credit card and anon email you can have some degree of privacy.
It has also been eye opening to see how much each one costs.

I answered Penguin on fat and rabbits? Yes there is a thing called “rabbit poisoning”. It is highly unlikely to happen to you. It is when people in survival situations figure out how to catch and eat wild rabbits. Wild animals are extremely lean and eating too much protein will wreck havoc with your kidneys until they fail. My (and your) rabbits raised on-farm can be grown to produce a good amount of that valuable fat.

So the GENIUS act requires that stablecoin issuers cannot give you interest. They also have to purchase US Treasuries for each dollar they get in. So they get to collect and keep the interest from the treasury bonds and not pass it on to you. What are they doing with that interest? Buying gold, farmland…
It is astonishing how corrupt the entire thing is.
The US Treasury (or was it the Fed?) bought $12.5B of it’s own debt this week as there aren’t many buyers.
China dumped $41 Billion and Japan another $47 Billion.

On January 18th, 2027 the OUSD stable coin is going live in a huge way - as in 140 companies have signed up for this. Of course this is not another re-branded CBDC is it? Yes, of course it is. But let’s not talk about that.
I am just so curious as to how they will get the adoption they are looking for. Bessent thinks they will get at least $4 Trillion in treasuries sold this way before 2030.
Super interested if you have any ideas of how they will motivate the masses.

pay in OUSD and you’ll get big discounts at all of those 140 businesses like Amazon, Shopify stores, WalMart…
tech and other companies may only pay you in OUSD
your bank will offer it to you for the quick and almost free transactions (versus the current slow and expensive system)
My favorite theory is they will do this plan:
put us into energy lockdowns
give everyone some stimulus money (like as in the COVID experience)
totally juice up the newly tokenized stock market which you can only buy with OUSD and let all the stimulus money push it higher creating the mother of all FOMO
then pull the rug

Oh! Quite a few people have reached out to me wanting to know where to get guinea pigs… I found a company in Peru that helps farmers get setup with commercial guinea pig farms. They have some nice big stock. And they say they can export to the US. I’ll keep you posted on how - or if - this all works out. I’ll be navigating 3 governments which could be tricky (Peru, US Feds, and PR).
