I know this is (mostly) a fashion shopping newsletter, but summer is not a time for caring about clothes. I can tell it’s August, canonically the end of the season for pessimists (I otherwise love summer), because checking the new-in pages of retailers for reportable arrivals—these quilted Driesscarves, snake sneakers, this Liberowe fringe jacket, The Row Dahlia bag I might sincerely have to also buy in black now that it’s back!—is filling me with urgency and passion. It is fall out there!!! And because I have the shopping memory of a goldfish, it feels absolutely brand new like no fall has ever felt before.
The most life-changing of all of these positive transformations to the material universe is so because it has left the screen and come into my life: The Row’s Caden leather loafers.
As blanket-soft as I’ve come to demand from leather shoes (the pliability found in Martinianos), with the shininess that bounces light off and draws the eye down to the tips of one’s toes, completing the visual length of an outfit (why I often wear white shoes).
