I wanted to take a quick moment to share a little HBCU joy with Y’all today, and also say thank you. Last night, I hosted our Journalism Town Hall for dozens of students, and we had a TIME!
There was a DJ, fried chicken, beef meatballs, veggie rolls, chicken pasta, salad, bread, and plenty of sweet treats. We gave students some really cool swag, including beanies, T-shirts, pens, and context prizes. More importantly, they heard from faculty and other speakers about internships, professional opportunities, resources, and the support available to help them sharpen their craft and prepare for careers in journalism. And we laughed. We danced. We ate. We built community in a political moment when journalism and higher education are under attack in this country.

Every year at our Town Hall, sports journalist Deron Snyder and I have a mini rap battle infusing journalism vocabulary into our bars. They also helped finance the annual lyrical humiliation of Professor Snyder. **😂 **
