Texas Gov. Greg Abbott went behind the counter to slice, chop, and serve brisket during the grand opening celebration for a new Buc-ee’s travel center in San Marcos, Texas, on August 12.

The visual of Abbott awkwardly going to town on a rack of meat spawned a lot of memes in its wake. Here’s a clip, followed by my take on it for freelance client Lone Star Project. I had fun drawing him looking like a crazed lunatic with a blade.
