Good afternoon. This newsletter has a reading time of 5 minutes.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17
We asked yesterday, in light of the alarming news from Brazil, if any leftist ever won a non-rigged election. People are now asking that question about Alaska, thanks to a report by (surprisingly) the New York Times. It’s behind a paywall, ** so here’s a Fox News write-up about it**.
Just as we’ve long suspected, the Times reports that operatives aligned with Alaska Democrat Senate candidate Mary Peltola worked for months in a shady scheme to game the “ranked choice” election by recruiting a candidate, Dan J. Sullivan, with a similar name to incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, to mislead voters into marking the wrong person on their ballots. Or as Democrats call that publicly, “undermining our democracy.” In more unsurprising news, the law firm headed by Democrat attorney Marc Elias was reportedly linked to the effort to hoodwink voters.
Peltola’s campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee denied involvement in the scheme, and we’ll let you decide whether their deniability is plausible. Sen. Tim Scott, chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, fired back, “Peltola will be held accountable this election for her dishonesty and deception. Alaskans will leave Peltola unranked on the ballot because of her dirty tricks. Voters can trust the real Dan Sullivan, and I’m confident he’ll be re-elected.”
Meanwhile, the Justice Department has been under fire by liberal media outlets such as, ironically, the New York Times, for filing a lawsuit to block certification of the election if the real Sen. Dan Sullivan lost due to votes being peeled off by the K-Tel soundalike Sullivan. They were accused of the usual sins lodged at the Trump Administration: undermining democracy, interfering with the people’s right to vote, etc. etc. A senior DOJ official reacted to the Times expose of the plot by telling Fox News, “Biggest ‘We-told-you-so’ moment. Quote me.”
We keep hearing that President Trump is an out-of-control authoritarian dictator who is weaponizing the government against his political enemies. Which is odd, ** since he apparently doesn’t even have the power to fire James Comey’s daughter**…
...Or to ** remove trees from a golf course**.
Kids used to dream of growing up to be President, but now they dream of becoming unelected federal judges because that’s where the real power is.
Here’s a** great example of the left’s giant wheel of propaganda** making a full circle. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) branded it a wild. right-wing conspiracy theory when conservatives and Christians complained of having their bank accounts revoked because of their political and religious beliefs. Recently, the Office of the Comptroller of Currency issued a report confirming that major banks were, indeed, “debanking” conservative and Christian groups.
And where were they getting the false idea that these organizations were “hate groups?” From the SPLC’s list of so-called “hate groups,” which apparently included any organization they disagreed with.
Video of the Day! If you’re numb from all the vicious political attack ads, then watch this ad from Tad Jude, the Republican candidate for Minnesota Secretary of State. It might be the most uplifting campaign ad since Reagan’s “Morning in America.”
Speaking of James Comey: In other “Long-delayed accountability for corrupt leftist DC insiders” news, former FBI Director James Comey is ** facing new official allegations** that he conspired to pass national defense information to others to leak to the media. If true, that would be a violation of the Espionage Act.
This narrative of Comey having a favorite supplicant whom he used to leak damaging info on Trump to the media has been long discussed here. There are no indictments – at least not yet – but the DOJ filed a two-count “criminal information” describing the potential charges to the US District Court in DC to prevent the statute of limitations from running out as the investigation continues. The DOJ called this a “widely recognized practice” in federal court.
In another widely-recognized practice, Comey responded by sanctimoniously playing the innocent victim and martyr of Trump weaponizing the Justice Department, which is so ironic that Alanis Morisette should write a song about it. ** David Manney at PJ Media** has some interesting comments on that.
Finally, we hate even to mention this story, since it’s so obviously a pre-election “October Surprise” hit piece, but House Democrats ** released a claim by a former Miss Switzerland** that Donald Trump raped her in November of 1993, and tried to tie Trump to Jeffrey Epstein. That was nearly 33 years ago and they offered no witnesses and no evidence. The White House called it “desperate” and said, “None of these allegations are true.”
We only report it because it’s being repeated by major outlets such as People, and to point out that in the comments, the same type of Democrats who automatically assume that any investigations of Omar, Comey or their ilk are just cynical political attacks leapt to assume these unverified allegations against Trump were 100% true. Now, that’s what a politically-motivated weaponization of the legal system actually looks like.
In ** a major legal victory** for President Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda, the Supreme Court allowed an agreement between Texas and the DOJ ending a Biden-era rule to go into effect. As Fox News reports, the 2024 rule (not its last-minute, “sandbag the incoming Administration” timing) established “procedures for immigration judges to temporarily pause certain deportation proceedings through a practice known as ‘administrative closure,’ including when migrants were pursuing immigration relief through other federal proceedings. The Supreme Court’s move leaves in place a lower court ruling eliminating that rule, stripping away a procedure that allowed certain deportation cases to be put on hold.”
Gosh, we can’t imagine activist judges exploiting that rule to thwart deportations! The story includes an explanation of the complicated legal case that we won’t try to summarize. Suffice to say that the SCOTUS allowed Texas to kill it with no dissents, which was surprising. Several Democrat cities opposed it, we assume on the popular legal theory that Trump is the first President in history who has no power to change a rule or executive order that was imposed by his predecessors.
We are also baffled by the argument made by the cities, that they had legal standing to challenge it because “eliminating the rule could lead to residents being deported, reducing their tax revenues.” We’ve already seen that deporting cheap illegal alien labor leads to higher wages for Americans, which increases tax revenues. Second, if their claim were true, you could use it to justify opposing any and all enforcement of immigration laws. Oh, wait: that’s what blue cities already do. Never mind...
From Our “Is This Really News?” Desk: Oh look, “Republican” Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski ** just double-crossed her own party** and endorsed the Democrat for Governor of Alaska, as well as his “nonpartisan” running mate for Lieutenant Governor. So, it’s a typical Wednesday.
News You Can Use: Bank of America warned customers ** never to share their bank account user names and passwords with any person or outside service**, “including an Al-enabled tool or agent that offers to act on your behalf.”
We thought that sharing your bank user name and password with anyone was the supreme act of stupidity, but then we discovered that people are also sharing them with AI bots. Now we understand why so many people think socialism is a good idea.
Thank you for reading the Huckabee Post.
