The University of Ghent (Belgium) is led by a male-to-female transgender former leader of that country’s Green Party. He has just suspended researcher Nathan Cofnas, a fellow of the university, for the crime of having exposed Jason Arday’s fraud. 𝕏Nathan says this is almost certainly a precursor to firing him.
Nathan, who is highly degreed, was sent down from Cambridge not because he was a second-class scholar or a cheat, but rather over his views on the connection between race and IQ. He found a place at Ghent, but now it looks like that will soon be over — not because of his views on race and IQ, but because of the role he played in bringing to light the massive deception that Jason Arday and his academic enablers carried out.
If this happens, think about where we are: a scholar can lose his job at a university for exposing plagiarism and academic fraud, so long as the one exposed is a member of a sacred victim class!
What the hell is a university, then, if that is the standard?! Academia becomes a place where the basic truth and integrity necessary for a university to work doesn’t matter. You can lie your ass off, and as long as you are a Sacred Minority, you can get away with it, and those who expose your fraud are punished.
If Ghent goes through with it, this ought to be major, front-page news. The woke elites who run academia must be made to pay, and to pay dearly.
If Ghent does this, and gets away with it, then this will be precedent-setting. It will establish academia as a place that will have responded to Arday’s unfortunate suicide not by reflecting on the cost of its own DEI practices, and reforming, but rather as a place that doubles down on those practices, to prevent frauds who happen to be minorities from killing themselves. That’s the kind of Heckler’s Veto that destroys the authority of institutions. This really is a line in the sand moment. If Ghent does this, and other university presidents stay mum about it, or take Ghent’s line, then there must be hell to pay. There must be.
If not, Arday’s suicide won’t be the only one to come out of this scandal. Academia’s will be the copycat. This cannot be allowed to stand. As I wrote in this space the other day, I have been haunted by the young Washington conservative’s statement to me last November that the young right-wing radicals working in DC don’t “want” anything; rather, “they want to tear it all down.” That is a deeply un-conservative sentiment, but when you hear about things like this, you understand where they’re coming from. How the hell can a university that suspends, and perhaps fires, an academic for exposing a terrible case of academic fraud, be worth a damn thing?

The woke are destroying civilization. There’s no doubt about it. And the relative passivity of the rest of us aids and abets them.
That’s a parody meme posted by a European by the name of Matthias Schmidt, who posts on Twitter as “eurofounder”. He often mocks the EU bureaucracy, the EU’s liberal migration policy, and so forth.

Got that? This guy faces criminal charges for what he posts on social media that is defined by EU bureaucrats as causing “serious reputational harm to the institutions of the EU, undermin[ing] public confidence,” and so forth.
This is Cofnas 2.0. The EU enforcers reserve the right to decide for themselves which criticism they allow to be spoken about themselves, and will bring down the full force of the law on anybody who offends them. You can tell all the lies you want on social media, as long as it supports the EU, but criticize them, even in what is plainly parody, and they’ll bring down the law on your head. Whatever this is, it’s not liberal democracy. Remember me telling y’all, when I lived in Hungary, that you had far more freedom of expression in Viktor Orban’s Hungary than in many other EU member states? When Orban said in 2014 that he wanted to build an “illiberal democracy” in Hungary, he meant that he wanted to build a state that rejected the EU’s pretensions of “democracy.” This is exactly the kind of thing he was talking about. But you didn’t know this if you didn’t live there, because the Western media never reported it.

If social media companies don’t comply, they face ruinous fines.
That’s Euroliberalism for you. The same EU bureaucrats who are abetting the invasion of Europe are also prepared to punish Europeans for noticing it.
