The Lever’s David Sirota has caused a firestorm with his recent article accusing *The Bulwark’s *Sarah Longwell and other neocons of trying to hijack the Democratic Party. If you’ve missed the online discourse, it’s worth visiting, considering Democratic leadership and donors still feel more comfortable moving to the right of their own base in 2026 despite losing the White House, Senate, and House.
Even as a majority of Americans loathe billionaires, AI, and Israel’s genocide, we see California Democrats work in tandem with the Ellisons to gobble up Warner Bros., Paramount, CBS, and CNN. Senator Schumer and Rep. Jeffries still refuse to champion Medicare For All, abolish ICE, or call out Israel’s genocide. With recent polls predicting a blue wave, they feel they don’t have to promise a politics of transformation. It’ll just be restoration with some window dressing.
Why is the leadership and the donor class unwilling to recognize this as a failing strategy? Why do they continue to attack Hasan Piker and be lukewarm at best towards El-Sayed, Angie Nixon, and Mamdani, even as voters are consistently telling them they want bold changes?
You just have to follow the money, and it goes all the way to the top: the billionaire class, who are featured heavily in the Epstein Files.
