That’s the football equivalent of the decision facing the constellation of Republican super PACs pouring hundreds of millions into the Texas Senate race at the moment.
Do they keep spending as heavily — despite the fact that Democrat James Talarico has extended his lead over Ken Paxton in recent polls?
Or do they walk away — taking the tens of millions of dollars in reserved ad time with them to be spent in races where they a) can get more bang for their buck and b) could reasonably expect that their spending might be the difference between winning and losing?
My friend and I debated that very question in our weekly Thursday morning podcast. We also talked about:
🦎 JD Vance’s shape-shifting
🪟 The window of opportunity that might open for Ted Cruz post-2026
✈️ Why it should worry Republicans that Donald Trump has been in Texas and Ohio twice each in the past 10 days
📊 Why I don’t think the 2026 polls are wrong
