In today’s newsletter: Israelis head to the polls in a closely contested national vote that could determine Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political future. Tensions with Iran remain elevated as Tehran threatens legal action against a major shipping company operating in the Strait of Hormuz. And much more…

Israelis are voting today in a national referendum that could determine whether Benjamin Netanyahu remains Prime Minister.
In a post on X, ** Netanyahu warned Israelis** that “Muslim Brotherhood supporters are raiding the polling stations and stealing the elections.” He told them, “We’re at war for our home” and urged them to “Get out and vote, recover it!!” Same thing we could say here, especially in Michigan. Our prayers are with Israel and for its people to choose wisely. Vote as if the continuing existence of Israel depended on it.
Having had its other weapons of mass destruction destroyed, Iran is now resorting to the worst of them all: lawyers. Tehran warned that starting November 1st, all ships owned by the Korean shipping company Sinokor would face “legal action” if they crossed the Strait of Hormuz. This puts us in mind of an old joke: “What do you call 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the Strait of Hormuz?” “A good start.”
Iran also accused President Trump of not being serious about peace negotiations and of “clinging to hopes” that Iran will give up its nuclear ambitions and control of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is trying to work around the US by holding “regional stability talks” with Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. Let’s hope they realize that that would be like trying to negotiate with a crocodile to eat you last.
UK prosecutors charged two men with the extremely Anglo names of Mohmed Abdulkarim and Nouman Essghir with an Iranian-linked breach at the RAF Fairford air base, used by the US military to stage attacks on Iran.
In the latest developments with Iran, ** Fox News obtained an intelligence memo** by DNI Jay Clayton to SOS Marco Rubio, reporting that Iran has “substantially increased” its efforts to target US personnel abroad. They are reportedly in the “advanced stages” of plans to kill Americans in the Middle East and other nations.
President Trump is reportedly weighing his option on what to do with the Tehran regime; whether to make a peace deal with them or “finish them off.” Ordinary Iranians think they know which is more likely, and they’re panic-buying in anticipation of another round of Epic Fury.
Sunday, Israel launched 48 hours of large-scale military drills in preparation to counter surprise infiltrations or ground raids in northern and central Israel. An Israeli national security analyst said it’s mostly aimed at “non-state actors” in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan that might be planning attacks and that might or might not be backed by Iran.
Obama made a ** stunningly dumb criticism** of Trump’s dealing with Iran, claiming that Iran is “in a stronger strategic position now than before the war began.” The only way that could be true is if you believe that Trump turned all their naval ships into submarines for them.
We suspect that whatever strategic position Iran is in now, it’s worse than the position they were in after Obama sent them pallets of cash and gave them a nuclear deal that they laughed at and ignored.
We hope that foolish Americans who are having a fling with socialism will take a look at Brazil and see what it looks like once the election is over and ** the mask comes off – and we mean the very MINUTE the election is over**.
Socialist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva had barely been declared the winner (after a shady, unconstitutional move to keep polls in his support districts open for an extra two hours) before his opponent, conservative reform candidate Flavio Bolsonaro, was ordered to surrender his passports and barred from leaving the country in preparation for his possible arrest. The order came from the same Supreme Court judge who presided over the prosecution of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is still under house arrest.
Flavio Bolsonaro, who had announced plans to challenge the election (good luck getting the Supreme Court to give that a fair hearing), said, “I will hand over my passports and defend myself against this abomination, which is a clear attempt to intimidate me, but nobody will silence me.” ** Kyle Becker at Redstate.com** has more on this shining example of “democracy,” socialist-style.
Meanwhile, any Brazilians who were gullible enough to fall for the socialist promises of free stuff had better brace themselves and stock up now. Investors had expected a Bolsonaro win, due to the polls (which didn’t take into account socialist election theft.) News that South America’s shift to the right and economic freedom had been halted in Brazil caused investors to immediately start dumping Brazilian equities and debt. On Monday, Brazil’s main stock market lost 15% of its value, and its currency plunged in value by 10%. Two bond auctions had to be canceled.
** As the Spectator put it**, Brazil has voted for economic chaos. But that’s not fair to Brazilians, because they were apparently going to get socialist economic chaos no matter how they voted.
A ** ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid** into the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky appears to be holding. And who should be credited for brokering that ceasefire? The answer is “First Lady Melania Trump,” but it’s a trick question because the media will never credit her for it.
