Good Morning.
Crypto’s center of gravity is shifting from incentives to infrastructure this week. Blur’s frontend shutdown, following Blast and Abstract, closes the book on growth bought with token rewards, while Binance folds AI into its front end and S&P DJI routes a flagship benchmark on-chain through tightly licensed channels. The common thread is that value is pooling with whoever controls the user interface, the data or the liquidity, and projects without one of the three are running out of road.

WHAT MATTERS
State of play: Binance is betting that an adaptive interface, rather than more exchange features, will keep retail traders engaged, rolling out its free Binance AI tool to all global English-language users as part of its wider super-app strategy.
About 150,000 users tested the product in a beta that began Sept. 7, with support for more languages still rolling out.
The generative UI adjusts market data, portfolio tracking and trading tools to each user’s interests and experience level.
Features include AI-generated portfolio summaries, top-mover analysis, voice alerts and on-demand market briefings in text or audio.
The launch follows a livestream demo last week that also previewed the upcoming Binance AI Pro.
Co-CEO Richard Teng framed the effort as closing a financial knowledge gap, arguing blockchain opens markets while AI helps users navigate them.
Why it matters: The world’s largest exchange is turning AI into its default front end, which could reshape how millions of retail users discover and act on trades.
Our take: A “personalized” interface built by the venue that profits from trading volume is a nudge engine, and tailoring by experience level is also a polished way to steer novices toward more activity.
For builders and investors: Exchanges that own the AI layer will own user attention, so independent analytics and wallet apps need sharper differentiation than data access alone.
CASE STUDY
**State of play: **Wall Street’s benchmark gatekeepers are moving on-chain on their own terms, as DRW and Marex complete what S&P DJI and Kaiko call the first OTC derivative referencing a fully tokenized index, with data control staying firmly with incumbents.
The total return swap references the S&P iBoxx USD Liquid Investment Grade Index and ran on Derivnex’s platform on the Canton Network.
Kaiko tokenized the benchmark and supplies official index values to support ongoing trade valuation.
S&P DJI says the model could streamline fragmented institutional workflows by linking index licensing and derivatives management in one process.
Canton gives counterparties a shared, confidential record of each trade from affirmation through its full lifecycle.
The deal follows S&P Global leading a strategic investment that extended Kaiko’s Series B to $110M.

INSIGHTS
**State of play: **Orderly is 𝕏turning a rival’s reported $1.28M exploit into a sales pitch, unveiling Crumple, a mocked-up perps design that doubles as an ad for its own liquidity layer.
Orderly says the attacker profited within 8 hours by pushing the price on the single exchange Papertrade uses for pricing, while its pool sat unhedged.
Crumple would price off Orderly’s mark price averaged across major exchanges and hedge net exposure on Orderly, trading lower leverage for safety.
Like a bookie, the pool nets out opposing positions and hedges only the imbalance, so winning traders get paid instead of queued.
The house edge comes from closing losers at a 50% drawdown while keeping their full margin, and losers mint SCRAP that can be staked for a revenue cut.
Orderly stresses Crumple is only a concept with made-up figures, and the $1.28M claim has not been independently verified.
FEATURES & GOVERNANCE UPDATE
**State of play: **Blur’s decision to close its frontend next month and leave only an onchain protocol marks the quiet end of the incentive-fueled NFT trading boom it once engineered.
Blend stops matching new loans on Nov. 12, giving borrowers until then to repay or default, with a withdrawal tool to follow.
The move follows wind-downs at Blast, built by founder Pacman’s same core team, and the Pudgy Penguins-backed L2 Abstract.
Monthly volume fell from a peak near $1.43B in March 2023 to under $7M three years later, according to The Block’s data.
Critics long tied Blur’s growth to airdrop farming, suspected wash trading and low creator royalties that hurt revenues at firms like Yuga Labs.
BLUR dropped more than 20% to around $0.015, a market cap of roughly $44M, after trading above $5 in early 2023.
