California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law the “** Stop Nick Shirley Act**,” a clearly unconstitutional attempt to prevent journalists from exposing fraud by favored Democrat constituencies. The very name alone tells you how partisan it is, and we wonder how many reporters will be arrested under it for doing their job before the Supreme Court throws it in the Dumpster where it belongs.
Nick Shirley ** posted his response on X**, doing what a journalist is supposed to do and what California Democrats are trying to criminalize: he exposes the deep corruption behind this law and the kind of blatant fraud it was created to protect. He concludes, “This is not the end. The fight has just begun.”
A reminder: If you think this kind of corrupt legislation might end with the departure of Newsom, the leading Dem candidate for Governor, Xavier Becerra, is also the former state attorney general who tried to jail reporters for exposing Planned Parenthood, one of his major donors. More proof that if Californians ever want sanity to return, they’d better get out and vote for Steve Hilton, ** who posted a chat on Facebook yesterday** with a Vietnamese-American shopkeeper who said, “Every time you pass a law, you take away freedom.”

Speaking of California taxpayers having their money given to leftists without their consent, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass was blasted after her fundraising video went viral. It revealed that L.A.’s “super match” program gives $6 of taxpayer money for every $1 donated by a supporter. Since we’ve seen how the system ensures that only Democrats end up in the race, that means Republican taxpayers are being forced to bankroll the campaigns of leftists whose positions they oppose and whose policies are actively harming them. Since the Supreme Court has ruled that campaign donations are a protected form of free speech, this seems like a violation of the First Amendment. Anyone want to take up the case?
