California Gov. Gavin Newsom has spent the past few years doing everything possible to signal that he plans to run for President in 2028 short of actually being competent at his current job. Which is why his latest comments to CNN’s Jake Tapper were dubbed a bombshell.
** In a weird interview** in which the two stood in a Montana river fishing (the show interviews people in settings they allegedly enjoy), Newsom declared that if Kamala Harris decides for a second try at the White House in 2028, he will step aside and not run. Asked to clarify, Newsom insisted, “Of course not. Why would I? I wouldn’t do that to her, I wouldn’t do that to you, I wouldn’t waste everyone’s time. Who needs that?”
Tapper replied with words that interviewers should use far more often with Newsom: “What do you mean? That doesn’t even make sense.” Newson replied that the two Californians share so many supporters that a primary fight between them would be “mutually assured destruction” that “services no greater good.”
We would argue that neither a Harris nor Newsom presidency would serve any greater good, but that never stopped either of them from fantasizing about it. Some analysts say that Newsom is trailing Harris so much in the polls that he’s just looking for a non-embarrassing way to duck out of the race. If that’s not it, then it’s ironic that Newsom’s overdeveloped sense of white male privilege may have compelled him to commit hara-kiri, but we’ll accept any reason that keeps him far away from the White House.
Of course, the bad news for Democrats is that this helps clear the way for another delusional run by Harris, a candidate who becomes less popular the more voters see her and who blew through $1.5 billion in donor money in 15 weeks only to lose every last swing state. Yet according to the latest Real Clear Polling average, she currently leads the Democratic field, which shows how pathetic a field it is.
Personally, we have zero faith in polls, especially so far out from 2028. Our prediction, for what little it’s worth, is that we’ll see a repeat of 2012, where some little-known, hardly qualified wild card candidate is frantically embraced by Democrats desperate to avoid losing with Kamala again, the way they went nuts over Barack Hussein Obama when they thought the only other choice was Hillary Clinton.
Speaking of Kamala Harris, ** she’s back in the news** beyond the Newsom story, after former DNC fundraiser Lindy Li told Fox News Digital that despite her public claims of fervent support for Joe Biden’s reelection, Harris was already working on poaching Biden’s donors days before he dropped out. Li said Harris’ calls to the donors to vow her support for Biden were all a “charade,” designed to make her look loyal to Biden as an audition for his endorsement. As part of her “All About Eve”-like plot, Harris also imposed “a fake rule on her staff to not talk about her ascending to the nomination” to cover up what she was really doing.
But Li said Harris’ scheme didn’t work because the donors found her flattery of Biden “unconvincing” and “insulting” and talked to each other on group chats about how fake she was and how obvious that she was lying to them and that Biden was clearly incapacitated.
The moral: Democrat donors want a candidate who is a much better liar and schemer than Kamala Harris. So Gavin Newsom might want to rethink his vow to drop out if she runs. Unless, of course, he only said that to fool people into thinking he’s loyal to the party while he’s actually scheming to replace her…
Nah, who’d be a big enough two-faced phony to do a thing like that?!
Over the weekend, a woman was dropped off by Uber outside Kamala Harris’ $8 million Malibu mansion. She was told she couldn’t stay, so she left, but then came back again. Police came to deal with her as a trespasser but didn’t arrest her.
This would ordinarily be a non-story, but ** as Amy Curtis at Towhhall.com points out**, Democrats are constantly telling us that borders are racist, America is on stolen land, and we should abolish police and private property...until a stranger shows up on THEIR private property, and then the gendarmes swarm in. But then, we already learned that lesson when Texas sent a few illegal aliens to the “sanctuary” of Martha’s Vineyard. Martha had no more tolerance for that than Kamala does.
