Can a progressive, first-time candidate who is the daughter of Muslim, South Asian immigrants defeat the Democratic Establishment candidate in the state of New Hampshire?
Kairshma Manzur is about to find out. If elected, she will be the first female PhD scientist to ever serve in the U.S. Senate. But first she will have to defeat Rep. Chris Pappas, who is currently leading her in the polls and has the backing and financial support of AIPAC.
Unlike Pappas, Manzur has taken $0 from corporate PACs. She refuses to take a dime from AIPAC, AI, or Crypto, instead relying on a modest, grassroots campaign focusing on issues that resonate with her community, such as affordable housing, living wages, and ending unconditional aid to Israel and reckless foreign wars.
She is also vocal about her frustration with Democratic leadership and believes the party needs better leaders who are willing to fight for the people and take on corporate money. As you can imagine, this isn’t winning her many friends within the donor class and party elite. However, she believes this is the only way to break the chokehold and deliver necessary reform and change for people who are struggling to make ends meet.
Manzur joined me to make the case for why a progressive can win over “real Americans” in a “real state.”
