Friends, today I was excited to welcome back Christina Hines, who gave us a closing report on her spirited race to flip MI-10.
Here’s some of what Christina told us a few months ago when we first met this remarkable candidate:
“Well, I grew up in our district. For those of you who aren't familiar, Michigan's 10th is all of southern Macomb County, which is that place all the news outlets zoom in on every presidential year — it's a really important “home of the Reagan Democrats" kind of place. And then Rochester and Rochester Hills over in Oakland County. So that is our district. Largely suburban, just north of Detroit, bordering Lake St. Clair. I grew up here in Warren, Michigan, went to the University of Michigan, Wayne State Law School, and spent my entire career as a prosecutor. I was a sexual assault and child abuse prosecutor. My last role was as the chief of the Special Victims Unit. I loved my career, but like so many people, I've become really concerned with everything going on in this country. I've got three little kids, and I think all the time about how we are supposed to be leaving for the next generation the world a better place than what we found it, right. I feel like we're just fighting to maintain the rights and freedoms, and to build better opportunities for our kids. That's what we're fighting for every day.”

From our discussion today:
“Voters here have a choice. Their choice is between Trump's guy, the guy that said that there's not a single thing that he can think of that he disagrees with Donald Trump on, wants to be Trump's ally in Congress, or they can pick the SVU prosecutor and the Macomb County mom that knows what it's like to have to go to the grocery store and pay an arm and a leg, who feels the squeeze at the pump, and you know, that is the message. They can pick the person that's going to make the change or they can pick the same guy that's been supporting Trump this whole time.”

About Christina: Prosecutor and Mom on a Mission
A Daughter of Macomb: Christina’s story is one of hard work, service, and fighting for others. These are the values she learned growing up in Macomb County in a hardworking middle-class family and in Warren Woods Public Schools. These are the values she hopes to impart to her children that she and her husband, David, are raising right here in Macomb County. These are the values she will bring with her to Congress.
A Fighter For Survivors of Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, and Human Trafficking: Christina attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and earned her law degree from Wayne State University Law School. Immediately after law school, she worked as a prosecutor where she helped victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking, and put away predators who preyed on women and children. Throughout Christina’s career as a legal leader in Michigan, she has prosecuted hate crimes, cold case sexual assaults, homicide, torture, and human trafficking cases, from district courts to the Michigan Supreme Court, and also started a Restorative Justice Program.
A Protector For Our Future: Christina is running for Congress because she believes it’s time to put the middle class first, to make sure that the American Dream isn’t just a dream but a reality for everyone—no matter who you are, where you come from, or how much money you make. It’s time to rebuild an economy that works for all of us. It’s time to fight to preserve the American dream for future generations.
