Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced on Sunday (August 1, 2026) the shutdown of the country's sole nuclear power plant after record-low water levels in the Danube river forced its first halt in 44 years.

Body of one of the fish workers missing from Muthalapozhi recovered
The body of one of the two fish workers who went missing after a fishing boat capsized at Muthalapozhi in Thiruvananthapuram district on Friday (July 31, 2026) night was recovered on Sunday (August 2) morning following a search operation. The deceased has been identified as Freemon (28), hailing from Anchuthengu.
