What I'm cooking with all the late summer tomatoes
I made the mistake of discovering the chatbot TasteGPT. (I won’t link to it - no need to give it even more users, though I realise that ships already sailed). It’s both addictive and terrifying. You can feed it a photo of a dish, with no context, and it tells you what it thinks it will taste like. I pasted in a picture of the creamed corn with pickled cucumbers I’d cooked the week before, gave it nothing else to go on, and braced for some vague food-writing clichés.

Hey! So, I was just looking at this little piece about someone's Friday, and it made me think of you. It was a pretty simple day, but nice. They had roast chicken with this cabbage and potatoes that sounded really good. And, get this, their niece just moved into her dorm for college – how exciting is that? So proud of her, I bet. Oh, and they found their favorite orange tulips at the market, which are now on their kitchen table. Just a little reminder of the good stuff, you know? Made me wonder what your good things were.
I saw this post. Zinc fixes your blood sugar, steadies your energy, sorts out your metabolism. So you added it to the cart with the magnesium and the ashwagandha, because what’s one more capsule Here’s the part the post skipped: the studies behind that claim were run on people with diabetes, often already low in zinc. That might not be you. And taking it when you don’t need it quietly causes a different problem. Let me walk you through what the research actually shows, because it’s more useful than the hype and more useful than the eye-roll.
