NFL Weekend Review: The Josh Allen experience is back!
Josh Allen is back, bringing that late-game magic we love. He led the Buffalo Bills to a thrilling finish, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. It’s always exciting when he’s in the zone, and this weekend was no exception.
Derrick Henry also made headlines, but this time in a Baltimore Ravens uniform. He put on a show, demonstrating why he’s still one of the league’s most formidable running backs. His impact was clear, and Ravens fans are already buzzing about what he can bring this season.
The Chicago Bears had a day to remember, flexing their scoring muscles in a high-octane matchup. Their offense looked sharp, and it’s a promising sign for the team moving forward. It’s clear they’re ready to make some noise this season.
Overall, it was a wild opening Sunday filled with excitement and standout performances. The NFL is back, and it feels like we’re in for a thrilling season ahead.
Isaiah Likely's second touchdown of the night gives Giants 21-7 lead
Don't look now, but the Giants are putting it on the Cowboys. Isaiah Likely caught his second touchdown pass in as many drives to give New York a 21-7 lead over Dallas early in the third quarter. Likely’s touchdown capped a 12-play, 74-yard drive that took 8:01 off the clock to start the third quarter. With the halftime break, the Cowboys have now been outscored 14-0 since they last touched the ball. New York was efficient on the latest possession, with the team not even facing a third down on the way to the end zone.
As he stepped up to the baseline, Alexander Zverev could be forgiven for letting his mind slip back to the last time he served for the US Open title. Six years ago, the German top seed threw away a two-set lead in a devastating loss to Dominic Thiem, having served for the match in the fifth set. This time, instead of his own nerves, it was American Ben Shelton and the majority of the 24,000-strong crowd that stood in Zverev's way. But this was a different Zverev: a Grand Slam champion now, having won the French Open in June.
J.J. Watt proved steady, competent as Tony Romo’s replacement
For a moment, it was reasonable to worry that the uncle-nephew dynamic that had come to define Jim Nantz and Tony Romo’s final seasons together would simply transfer to Nantz and J.J. Watt. Not because of any red flags — no strange noises, no lack of preparation, no sense that Watt was talking over his 67-year-old partner — but because there’s a gap in generations between the two.
Cam Skattebo 3-yard touchdown gives Giants early 7-0 lead
The Giants have taken an early lead over the division-rival Cowboys with a touchdown on their opening drive. It’s 7-0, New York, with 6:40 left in the first quarter. The Giants were already moving the ball when quarterback Jaxson Dart took a designed run 22 yards to the left. But already out of bounds, he was hit by Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown to give New York 15 more yards to get down to the 22-yard line. Then Dart moved the chains on third-and-3 with a 12-yard pass to Isaiah Likely, putting the Giants inside the 5-yard line.
JJ Watt proves to be a solid replacement for Tony Romo as CBS’s No 1 analyst
With the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback on leave after his arrest in July, CBS brought a dependable presence into the booth with Jim Nantz If you were looking for insight from the CBS team broadcasting Minnesota’s 39-22 comeback win over Green Bay on Sunday afternoon, you were rewarded even before the first snap. Asked by his play-by-play partner, Jim Nantz, what he was focusing on with new Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray, JJ Watt told viewers that Murray was playing against his former head coach Jonathan Gannon.
