Smart Window is built to help with complex searches, remember content you've visited, and summarize information from open tabs. It's available first in France and North America, with the UK and Germany set to follow later this year. Conversations aren't stored on Mozilla's servers by default, according to Mistral, and Mistral commits to storing no data. With the partnership, Mistral wants to move beyond its business customer work and reach end users worldwide.

TypeSafe AI, founded by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, is releasing a model that deliberately generates no text. Instead of chat responses, "Jev" delivers pure classifications for software, with response times starting at 70 milliseconds and extremely low token prices. The approach doesn't protect against mistakes, though. The system only guarantees that it will stick strictly to the preset options. Building the materials foundation for AI
The AI boom is becoming a materials challenge. As AI pushes computing into new territory, the materials behind that infrastructure are becoming just as crucial as the algorithms running on it. Semiconductors and data centers are approaching physical limits around performance, thermal management, electrical efficiency, and reliability, creating new demands for materials that can do more at once. At the same time, AI is giving materials scientists new ways to search the enormous universe of possible molecules and accelerate the development of solutions.

Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon sparked an intense debate about existential AI risks with a single tweet. OpenAI researcher Daniel Selsam warns of a "ticking time bomb," and a former Deepmind researcher says AI could kill us all. In a survey of more than 1,500 leading AI researchers, the average estimated probability of an extinction scenario was 18 percent. That was in 2024. The number keeps climbing.
