The Elusive Perfect White Button Down
Finding the perfect white button-down shirt can be a bit of a quest, right? It all starts with fabric choice—do you lean towards crisp poplin or something more relaxed like linen? And then there’s the style; are you after that laid-back borrowed-from-the-boys vibe or something more polished?
Katie shares her top picks to help narrow it down. First up is the Spanx Poplin Oversized Button Down, which is versatile enough to wear tucked or untucked. Then there’s the Torrid Drop Shoulder Button Down, featuring side slits and a casual look thanks to its cotton blend.
For a daily staple, Katie loves the Katie Kime Classic Charlotte Button Down, especially since it’s customizable with a monogram and won’t gape at the bust. The Summersalt Perfect Boyfriend Shirt has a trendy high/low hem that’s great for that effortless French tuck. Lastly, the Never Fully Dressed White Miley Shirt stands out with its slightly sheer fabric and stylish tortoise buttons, making it suitable for both day and night.
The holidays can be a mixed bag, bringing joy but also stress, especially for women. To help ease that holiday pressure, here are some practical tips. First, consider minimizing hosting duties. It’s perfectly okay to limit overnight guests or suggest nearby accommodations. This can create a more relaxed atmosphere for everyone involved.
Next, try to maintain your regular routine. Amid the holiday chaos, carve out time for self-care activities like walks or calls with friends. These small moments can really help manage stress. Remember, things don’t have to be perfect. You don’t need to transform into a holiday expert overnight; simple traditions can be just as special.
Communication is key, too. Don’t hesitate to discuss your holiday plans with family and ask for help. Sharing responsibilities can lighten the load and prevent feelings of resentment. Also, prioritize time with friends. A lunch date can provide a refreshing break and lift your spirits.
Lastly, if you're worried about what to wear, consider using a service like Stitch Fix. They provide personalized styling to help you feel confident without the hassle. You can try on curated outfits at home, making getting dressed one less thing to stress about this season.
Let’s start at the bottom-this is my Marlo Laz medallion. I got this as a very generous gift but it was a bracelet and I don’t wear them often so I wanted to exchange for a necklace. They only had one Buona Furtuna charm in stock and it was a return with the engraving “La Dolce afar Niente” which if you are a woman ages 30-50 you saw Eat Pray Love so you know it means the art of doing nothing. So I grabbed that pre-engraved charm and added it to a gold chain I got in Puglia that is very strong. Compass: This is a medallion that John and I got on our honeymoon in Puglia.
I wanted to break down what you guys have been loving and shopping from my links recently. I thought it could be fun to share what has been popular- and see if anyone in the Lobby Coffee community wanted to share their feedback if they have bought, tried or loved any of these pieces. Let us all know in the comments! I’m also going to share what I love about each too. Tuckernuck Chocolate Faux Suede Dress I think this has been a no-brainer for so many of you because it is such a great layering piece.
Telling a chronic overpacker (it is because of my job, I swear!) that you can only take 30 lbs of luggage for 8 days of travel initially gave me pause. However, when I tell you I was totally prepared and may have actually nailed my packing, I am telling the truth! If you are planning on going on safari or any adventure travel, I have made a list of all the clothing I brought, what I did not need and what I am so happy I packed (plus one or two things I wish I brought).
I want to talk about my experience using GLP-1s. But between the Oh Oh Oh Ozempic jingle and the constant references on social media, I wanted to make sure I was not just adding to the noise- not just another place where people turn and get hit in the face with messaging about the shot. After I posted about being on the this medication this summer, I was terrified about what the reaction from my community would be.
Note: Thank you all for your warm response on my last post. I’m working on my first installment and going thought all of your comments in the chat, on the post and on Notes. I’m so excited to continue the conversation. Going on safari has been on my dream trip list for as long as I can remember, until I watched The Year The Earth Changed. In this documentary narrated by David Attenborough, they highlight all the amazing things that happened in nature during 2020 when humans were stuck at home.
Thanks again for being here to dive in deeper to all things GLP-1s with me. I’m so glad you’re here and we have this space to connect. Deep breath. Let’s get started. Here is my truth: I have never not cared about food. I have always been the friend who will say yes to ice cream even if I just had a cookie. I will finish the bread basket and ask for a refill. But throughout my life, I have rarely ever felt full. I could always have more.
Alright friends: today is the day to discuss the beanie. It’s really the ultimate winter accessory, and there’s many a way to incorporate one into your wardrobe. My challenge to you is to wear one that makes you happy! Is it color, print or warmth? Or all three? This hat and gorgeous coordinating plaid scarf above are what I affectionately call Butt Stuff green, the same color as our famous hemmy cream packaging that I love.
