'Constant bombardment' - Fans shown 65,000 junk food ads at World Cup
During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, fans were bombarded with over 65,000 ads for junk food and drinks, according to a study from the University of Bristol and the University of Oxford. They used an AI tool to analyze ads visible to TV viewers during the tournament’s 104 matches, revealing that these ads appeared for a total of 28.1 hours, accounting for over 16% of match time. Coca-Cola led the pack with nearly 22,000 ads, followed by McDonald's and others, all of which are FIFA partners.
The study highlighted that junk food ads were shown seven times more than alcohol and ten times more than gambling ads. This raises concerns about normalizing unhealthy consumption, especially among children. Despite regulations in the UK limiting junk food ads before 9 PM, these international broadcasts fall outside those laws, creating a loophole that many are calling to address. Experts warn that the prevalence of such advertising during major sporting events contributes to the global obesity crisis, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to tackle this issue.

Josh Allen surges in MVP odds, and Caleb Williams is off the board
Josh Allen is making waves in the MVP race, with his odds improving to +275 after Week 1. That’s a solid jump from +600 just a week ago. Meanwhile, Caleb Williams, who had his odds rise dramatically from +1200 to +600, is currently off the board due to a hamstring injury.
Lamar Jackson trails Allen at +800, while Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, and Patrick Mahomes are all tied at +850. Dak Prescott follows at +1400. If Williams misses significant time, it could really hurt his chances for the MVP, especially considering the history of missed games impacting the award. It's shaping up to be an interesting season!

Cowboys’ Cobie Durant got stomped where the sun doesn’t shine in NFL’s worst act of teammate brutality
The Dallas Cowboys earned one of Week 2’s most convincing victories with a 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders. The Cowboys’ passing game returned to form after a disappointing showing in a Week 1 loss to the New York Giants, with Dak Prescott passing for 279 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions in the win. Meanwhile, the Commanders are just hoping Jayden Daniels’ scary elbow injury doesn’t keep him out for an extended period. The Cowboys created plenty of fireworks with the victory, but unfortunately that also included some friendly fire.
