England should stop trying to replicate Spain - Gordon
Anthony Gordon says that controlling games is not in the English "DNA" but the Three Lions could win major tournaments if they stop "trying to replicate Spain". The Barcelona winger was speaking at St George's Park as the England squad prepare to take on world champions Spain on Saturday - their first match together since the World Cup. England lost their semi-final 2-1 to Argentina, before beating France 6-4 in the bronze medal match. Ending on a high meant England achieved their best finish in a World Cup since 1966.
Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo upset at NFL schedule makers for 3 consecutive weeks of primetime Falcons games
The Atlanta Falcons are set for three consecutive primetime games, starting this Thursday against the Green Bay Packers. Following that, they'll face the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football and the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. However, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo is not thrilled about this scheduling. He expressed his frustration on Wednesday's episode of First Take, questioning why the Falcons were chosen for national television given their struggles.
So far this season, the Falcons have not made it into the red zone, raising concerns about the entertainment value of these upcoming games. On a brighter note, the team is expected to welcome back quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa, which could improve their performance. How much of a difference that makes remains to be seen.
Fiorella Princess, coming off a dominant win at Yarmouth, carries a five-pound penalty but looks tough to beat. Elvetham, fresh off a victory at Lingfield, is stepping up in class and should not be underestimated.
Later in the evening, Emma's Letter takes on 13 rivals in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Fillies' Handicap. She’s been in great form, winning convincingly at Newmarket, while Hamdania, who has shown promise with a recent win and a solid second, will be a strong contender as well.
In the 6.30 race, Pulse Of Fire and Lady Henshaw are the ones to watch. Pulse Of Fire improved significantly in his last outing, and Lady Henshaw, with a new jockey, could surprise after a solid debut. Keep an eye on Hunstanton, a newcomer who might make an impact.
It’s a packed card with plenty of potential surprises. Enjoy the races!
Exeter's head coach, Rob Baxter, is setting ambitious goals for his team this season, aiming for a Premiership title after a strong showing last year. Despite finishing third and reaching the final, Baxter believes that losing in the final means they must target winning it this time around. He feels it’s essential for the players to have that mindset, emphasizing that they should be ready to win right from the start.
Exeter kicks off their season at home against Gloucester on Saturday, starting a crucial stretch of five league matches and one European Champions Cup game. Baxter knows that getting off to a strong start is vital, as over a quarter of the season will be gone after these matches. He stresses that if they’re not in the top half of the table early on, it could be tough to recover. The focus is clear: they need to hit the ground running and be prepared for a competitive start.

Why this break has come at the worst time for De Zerbi & Spurs
Big spending always means big ambitions, but shelling out so much money on so many players the way Tottenham did this summer produces problems for any manager, and there is no quick fix. If I was given a bundle of cash and asked to buy an outfit for a wedding, and I spent every penny of it on pink shoes, brown trousers, yellow shirt and orange tie, then I am sure you would all say that just doesn't work. That is similar to what has happened at Spurs, where the board backed Roberto de Zerbi to the hilt with an outlay on new players of around £400m.
Perhaps it is down to the hope and excitement of pre-season but all four Welsh clubs go into the 2026-27 United Rugby Championship (URC) with dreams of making the play-offs. Last season Cardiff were the only side from Wales to make the top eight while Scarlets and Ospreys were the sole Welsh representatives in 2025 and 2024 respectively. Those three, and Dragons, have shown they can mix it with the best in the league on their day and all will feel the top eight is not out of reach if they have some luck with injury.
