Forget Biohacking. Embrace Biosyncing!
The word “biohacking” is everywhere these days, and I am not a fan of it. Like “clean eating” and “detox,” it’s a term that might help motivate some healthy lifestyle changes but is more likely to lead us down an unhealthy, even dangerous, path. That’s why I propose a new term, one that sets us up for a more positive, nourishing mindset: biosyncing. Thanks for reading Ellie’s Real Good Food, a reader supported publication. This issue is for paid subscribers with a sneak peek for free subscribers.

like every year, once my thanksgiving series is done I’m on to christmas mode. the tree went up 2 days early this year, I’m big into diy crafts this year and overall - I just have christmoiiis on the mind. I’m also afraid I’ve already exhausted so many movies. not sure what will be left for december….. but truly is there anything better than getting your christmas shopping done before it even hits december? like I have chills thinking about it. if only we could all be so organized. I mean every year I try but I get so overwhelmed.
hello my little elves, who is ready to continue on with this beautiful never ending season of cooking and baking and all thing festive!!!! meanwhile you already know the minute it hit december 1st I felt like christmas was already over (that’s a problem i need to unpack another day) short rib ragu pappardelle chocolate hazelnut biscotti maple blinchiki with stewed apples but I’ve been loving and embracing all things holiday without losing my mind.
I know I usually say thanksgiving is the best time of the year, but I was kind of lying because it’s obviously christmas. and even though we’re over a week out and my tree is already dying - I am keeping my head up and having myself a holly jolly time cooking away. if you’re like me and still have a handful of gifts to buy, here’s a list of things I like that I think make for excellent gifts.
2025 was a big year for jello shots in my world. first I made the paloma jello shots in grapefruit cups. then we did hibiscus blood orange jello shots with pop rocks. and now we have… lychee martini jello shots with maraschino cherries. no plans on stopping the jello shot movement round here partner as you can tell, i’m into jello shots in a chic party trick kinda way not in a tonguing down a plastic cup kinda way. shoutout solid wiggles in bk for inspiring me to try this block and cut technique! i love a passed around cocktail or appetizer moment and these just wow on a silver platter.
my love for a many layered cake knows no bounds. coincidentally, I also love a cake that requires an overnight sit in the fridge. see napoleon recipe here. and egg nog tiramisu here. oops. but may I just say the results are always worth it and it gives you an excuse to get dessert out of the way the day before! last year, my family fought over who got the last slice of napoleon to take home. it’s now a christmas staple in this house and will be a repeat offender on the table each year (maybe 2x to allow for plenty of leftovers lol) this time, we have a medovik.
I don’t want to talk about the fact that christmas is over because it truly will piss me awf. thankfully there’s still new years to hold out for. I know for many people i’s not really a big holiday or deal but for russians/eastern europeans, new years is the biggest holiday of all. it’s a very family centric holiday too so we’d always stay with our parents until midnight hits and then we were free to go where we please.
