Collins, 73, is running for re-election in Maine against Democratic challenger Troy Jackson. Polling data gives Jackson a small lead, but all it would take is one normal-sized polling error for Collins to keep her seat. Collins’ race in Maine has received heavy national attention in part because Democrats will likely need to beat her to take over the Senate.
The Supreme Court’s Shadow Docket Secrets Have Been Spilled
The New York Times on Saturday published a series of Supreme Court internal memos that amount, in hindsight, to a major milestone in the decline of American democracy. The closely held memos show how the justices’ shadow docket—particularly their use of brief, unsigned decisions on cases before they’ve even reached the court—transformed from a simple administrative mechanism into a major roadblock for progressive governance. There are caveats, of course: It is impossible to know whether these memos, from a 2016 climate change case, represent the entire conversation between the justices.

CNN host Kaitlan Collins has mocked her conservative colleague Scott Jennings to his face in a live TV segment. Jennings appeared on Monday’s The Source, where he defended President Donald Trump over using taxpayer funds to run what the White House has claimed are public service announcements.
