Solana targets 150-millisecond finality with Alpenglow upgrade on Oct. 21
Solana is gearing up for its Alpenglow upgrade on October 21, aiming for a 150-millisecond finality. This could really streamline network efficiency and, in turn, enhance user trust. If the upgrade delivers as promised, it might spark a renewed interest in SOL, making it more attractive for long-term holders.
The focus here is on improving the overall user experience, which could lead to increased demand. As the network becomes faster and more reliable, we might see a shift in how people perceive Solana. Keep an eye on this one; it could be a key moment for the ecosystem.

Fidelity ETF clients buy $103M worth of Bitcoin in a single day
So, Fidelity's Bitcoin ETF just saw a massive inflow of $103 million in a single day. That's a pretty significant chunk, showing that a lot of their clients are really leaning into Bitcoin right now. It's not just a trickle anymore; this is a strong signal of confidence from a big player.
This kind of activity really puts pressure on the other ETF providers. They're all vying for a piece of this growing market, and when one firm like Fidelity pulls in that much, it makes everyone else step up their game. We're seeing the competition heat up, which is usually good for us, the investors.

South Korea Blocks 27 Crypto Exchange Websites, Including KuCoin and MEXC
This decision follows reviews by the Korea Communications Standards Commission earlier this month and aims to enforce stricter compliance with local regulations. Exchanges must now obtain Information Security Management System certification and report to the Financial Intelligence Unit if they want to operate in South Korea.
The FIU has already referred 44 unregistered providers for investigation and is limiting transactions between registered domestic exchanges and these unregistered operators. They’re also monitoring for alternative domains that might be used to bypass the restrictions.
Interestingly, while the crackdown is tightening, South Korea is also looking to innovate in the crypto space. They’re planning to tokenize traditional financial assets, with the first phase set to kick off in February 2027. Ripple is getting in on the action, partnering with local firms to explore digital asset custody and tokenization.

Why Rising Treasury Yields Raise the Bar for Bitcoin to Attract Investors
The 10-year US Treasury yield has surged past 5.3%, its highest since 2002, putting Bitcoin in a tough spot since it offers no yield. With government-backed returns now above 5%, investors are looking for a stronger justification to hold BTC. The rising yields are tied to inflation and debt concerns, not just a slowdown in growth, which makes risk assets like Bitcoin harder to justify.
As yields rise, the math gets trickier for Bitcoin. Higher rates mean future gains are discounted more heavily, making non-yielding assets like crypto particularly sensitive to these changes. Money is already flowing into bonds, with bond ETFs attracting a record $469 billion this year through September.
Experts suggest that yields could climb even higher, with predictions of reaching 6%. This could spell trouble for risk markets, including Bitcoin, as investors adjust their strategies. The pressure from the bond market is significant, and liquidity trends may not be enough to offset the impact. In this environment, any asset that doesn’t pay a yield needs to consistently outperform a 5% Treasury to remain attractive.

Bitwise’s Hougan says Q3 charts point to ‘crypto spring’
The Bitwise 10 Large Cap Crypto Index is down 6.2% year-to-date, but there's a silver lining in Q3. Despite some heavy losses for Bitcoin miners like Riot Platforms and Hut 8, which dropped over 25%, Bitwise sees potential for a “crypto spring.” They believe the SEC’s innovation exemption could usher in billions of tokenized assets onto blockchains, particularly Ethereum and Solana, shifting from pilot projects to real production.
The perpetual futures market is also heating up, with over $6 trillion traded this year—up 42% from last year. Bitwise anticipates that regulatory support will further accelerate this growth as US investors start to engage more actively.

Measuring priority fees, positions and transaction classification of Ethereum blocks, July 2025 to October 2026
I work on pricing position within the block on Ethereum L1, mainly out of protocol through MEV-Boost (vs in protocol under EIP-1559). Any such design needs to know what the front of the block pays today, what types of transactions are there, and how they pay. The data covers sixteen sampled days, about 115,000 blocks: 1 July 2025, 1 July 2026, 1 to 7 August 2026 and 3 to 9 October 2026. It is execution data only, from TEMBRI, an open-source Rust tool I wrote, run on public Xatu data.
Wall Street’s $110 Billion Bond Warning: What It Means for Stocks and Bitcoin
Harley Bassman just dropped a significant warning: if 20-year US Treasury yields hit 6%, we could see $110 billion in bond sales hitting the market. Right now, those yields are hovering around 5.68%, just a hair away from that danger zone. This scenario could trigger a wave of selling as managers adjust their bond exposure, which would likely ripple through stocks and Bitcoin.
As yields climb, investors might lean more toward safer government debt, pulling money out of riskier assets like tech stocks and crypto. Bank of America’s survey suggests that if the 10-year Treasury reaches 5.9%, a lot of managers will start favoring bonds over equities. Currently, it’s at 5.22%.
For Bitcoin, trading around $83,014, these rising yields could mean more pressure as investors shy away from risk. Bitunix has already pointed out a connection between the recent crypto downturn and soaring US borrowing costs. So, while we’re not guaranteed a crash, keep an eye on those yield levels — they could have serious implications for both stocks and crypto.
