Live look at ACC replay center during FSU Hail Mary review brings clarity and disappointment
There were a whole lot of upsets in college football on Saturday. No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 5 Indiana, No. 6 Alabama, and No. 7 Texas all lost. While the Hoosiers were technically underdogs in their matchup against No. 4 Ohio State, and Bama and Notre Dame were both up against ranked opponents, seeing five of the top seven teams in college football eat a loss on the same day was fantastic. But it could have been better, as unranked Florida State came within inches of taking down No. 3 Miami to complete the sea of carnage that we saw on Saturday.
As NFL prepares to stage Steelers-Saints in Paris, local unrest intensifies
Hey! So, you know how the NFL's got that big game planned for Paris between the Steelers and the Saints? Well, it’s happening in just over a week, but things over there are getting pretty intense.
There's been a lot of unrest, with protests popping up for weeks now. They started over things like school conditions and how much everything costs. Just this past Saturday, they made over 1,200 arrests because things really escalated.
The NFL put out a statement saying they're still moving forward with the game as planned on October 25th at Stade de France. They mentioned they're working closely with local officials on all the security and operational stuff, and they're really looking forward to having the fans there.
But, if they *did* decide to move it, New Orleans is the Saints' home game, so that's the obvious backup. It sounds like any decision would need to be made pretty soon. It’s a big deal for the league to pull off these international games, especially since this one is set for a special 9:30 AM ET broadcast slot.
Remember back in 2018 when the Chiefs-Rams game had to move from Mexico City to L.A. because of field issues? The game time stayed the same. So, if this Paris game moves to New Orleans, would it still kick off at 9:30 AM ET? It's a lot to figure out.
There's even a slim chance they could move it to London if one of those stadiums is open. Either way, changing the location at this point would be a massive headache for everyone involved – the league, the teams, and all the fans who've already booked their trips to France. But, honestly, that's probably better than having anyone caught up in the middle of the ongoing situation in Paris.
Auburn stun No 1 Georgia on last-gasp field goal as top-ranked teams fall in successive weeks
Alex McPherson’s 34-yard kick seals 27-24 upset Georgia lose two interceptions and late fumble Alex McPherson kicked a game-winning 34-yard field goal as time expired and Auburn, led by quarterback Byrum Brown’s dominant running game, upset No 1 Georgia 27-24 on Saturday. It was the second straight week the top team in the AP Top 25 lost to an unranked opponent after then-No 1 Texas fell to Oklahoma last Saturday. Auburn’s win meant the team ranked No 1 in the AP Top 25 lost in consecutive weeks for the first time since October 1990, according to Sportradar. Continue reading...
UFC Edmonton post-fight show: Reaction to Mike Malott’s highlight-reel knockout of Joaquin Buckley
Mike Malott had a night to remember at UFC Edmonton, scoring a jaw-dropping knockout against Joaquin Buckley in the second round. This win marks a significant milestone in Malott's career, raising questions about whether he’s now a top-10 welterweight or even a title contender. His fifth consecutive victory certainly puts him in the spotlight.
After the fight, MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck and Jed Meshew shared their thoughts on Malott’s performance and what’s next for him. They also delved into Buckley’s situation, as this loss marks his third in a row.
In the co-main event, Jasmine Jasudavicius pulled off a surprising upset against Erin Blanchfield, which might have dashed Blanchfield’s title aspirations for good. Notre Dame gets screwed, twice, on "final" play at BYU
In a dramatic finish, BYU pulled off a 28-24 upset against No. 2 Notre Dame, but the game ended under a cloud of controversy. On what turned out to be the final play, officials opted not to call what many believed was defensive pass interference. To add to the confusion, the game clock showed one second remaining after the incomplete pass, suggesting Notre Dame should have had another chance to score.
Despite the discussion around the DPI non-call, the broadcast failed to address that the game shouldn’t have ended right then. It’s reminiscent of a previous incident in Michigan, where replay review was used to add time back to the clock. In this case, no such effort was made, leaving Notre Dame with a bitter taste after a game that should have continued.
The reality is, close games can lead to unpredictable outcomes, but this one felt particularly unjust for Notre Dame. They were poised for one last shot, and now we’re left wondering what could have been.

Why Colin Cowherd isn’t worried about expanded College Football Playoff
Colin Cowherd isn’t worried about the College Football Playoff expanding to 24 teams next year. He believes the critics who say this will diminish the regular season are missing the mark. Cowherd points out that 17% of college teams making the playoffs is still less than the NFL’s 44%, yet the NFL’s regular season remains exciting. He argues that this expansion actually benefits smaller programs, allowing them a chance even with a few losses. Cowherd also mentions that moving away from less meaningful bowl games can make the postseason more relevant. Ultimately, he feels college football will thrive despite the changes.

UFC Edmonton live blog: Joaquin Buckley vs. Mike Malott
Hey, so you know that UFC card happening in Edmonton? The main event is Joaquin Buckley against Mike Malott. This is a big one for both guys.
Buckley, he's ranked number 10 right now. Last year, he was on a roll, six wins in a row, looking like he was on his way to a title shot. But then he lost to Kamaru Usman, and then dropped another decision to Sean Brady. If he loses this one, it's three straight, and that's tough in this sport.
Then you've got Malott. He's number 13 in the welterweight rankings. He's from Ontario, and he's got his sights set on a real title run. He's on a four-fight win streak, and he's coming off a TKO win over Gilbert Burns back in April. This fight is his shot to break into the top 10.
It's a pretty good matchup, honestly. Malott walked out to Sum 41, which is just peak Canadian, right? His brother even plays hockey. It's all very fitting. Anyway, should be a good fight.
