Drake Maye's touchdown run has Patriots on the scoreboard
The Patriots finally found their rhythm in the second quarter after a tough start. They marched down the field for 74 yards in nine plays, capped off by Drake Maye's impressive 7-yard touchdown run. New England now trails 10-7.
Coach Mike Vrabel made a bold move, challenging the call that Maye was down just shy of the goal line. The replay showed he stretched the ball across, securing the touchdown. The tight ends played a big role in this drive, with Hunter Henry catching a 16-yard pass and Eli Raridon adding a 15-yarder. Maye is looking sharp, completing 8 of 10 passes for 76 yards.
NBC and Peacock’s 2026 NBA Tip-Off most-watched opening night ever
NBC wanted to eventize NBA Tip-Off and get audiences excited for the start of another NBA season. It appears they succeeded. The previous NBA Tip-Off doubleheader record was 5.7 million viewers in 2010 on TBS and TNT, which marked LeBron James’ Miami Heat debut against the Celtics. Clearly, anytime you can showcase James’s first game with a new team, it has paid off. The 76ers’ 106-100 win over the Knicks was the league’s most-watched primetime opening-night game ever, averaging 7.71 million viewers and peaking at 9.1 million at 9:45 p.m. ET.
NFL to consider showing replay review process during TV broadcasts this season
The NFL is considering following in the footsteps of several college conferences and letting viewers in on the instant-replay process. The potential initiative, first reported by Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer and followed up by Front Office Sports’ Mark Maske, would dramatically change how viewers see replay reviews in the NFL. If the NFL’s initiative were to look similar to those being done at the college level, viewers would be able to watch what the replay officials are seeing and hear their discussion in real-time as a decision is being made.
Hrgovic on course for title defence in Croatia before Dubois unification
Filip Hrgovic's hopes of a world title unification fight with Daniel Dubois are on hold as plans are being explored for a homecoming fight in early 2027. Hrgovic won the IBF heavyweight world championship when he scored an upset stoppage win over Moses Itauma in August. He was ringside on Saturday at The O2 arena to watch Daniel Dubois defend his WBO heavyweight championship and even faced off with the Londoner.
Brian Schottenheimer: George Pickens "needs to understand he impacts us in the run game"
Cowboys receiver George Pickens was rewarded for a stellar contract year by being kept from getting a fair market deal. This year, he's playing under the franchise tag — with a second tag looming if he has another great season. Although his per-game targets and catches through six 2026 games are roughly comparable to his 17-game average in 2025 (8.66 targets and 5.5 catches in 2026 versus 8.05 and 5.47 in 2025), his yards per game are down (71.3 yards per game in 2026 and 84.0 in 2025). He has only one 100-yard game and only one touchdown this year.
Caleb Williams outduels friend and rival Drake Maye as Bears beat Patriots
New England Patriots 24–30 Chicago Bears Bears QB throws for 308 yards and two TDs Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, and the Chicago Bears cooled off Drake Maye and the New England Patriots with a 30-24 win on Thursday night. Williams was 22 of 33 passing in his second game back after being sidelined by a hamstring injury. He became the first Bears quarterback to throw for more than 300 yards in consecutive games since Mitch Trubisky had a three-game run in 2018. Continue reading...
Thursday Night Football: Bears fend off Patriots 30-24
The Bears honored Mike Ditka pregame. They honored him with a win, too. Chicago led from start to finish — though it made things interesting all night — and held off the Patriots 30-24. The Bears are 5-2 and the Patriots 4-3. Bears kicker Cairo Santos made a career-long 58-yard field goal with 1:34 remaining to give Chicago a two-score lead. It came one snap after Caleb Williams inexplicably took a 10-yard sack on third-and-5 at the New England 30. It appeared to push the Bears out of field-goal range, but Ben Johnson trusted his kicker, who missed earlier from 53 off the right upright.
Bears tight end Cole Kmet suffered a right knee injury during the fourth quarter of the game. He made an 8-yard catch from Caleb Williams, but was tackled low by linebacker Robert Spillane and cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Kmet quickly grabbed his knee and couldn't put weight on his leg. With just over five minutes left in the game, he had to be carted off the field. As he left, he gave a thumbs up to the fans at Soldier Field, which was a nice touch. The Bears have officially ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Kmet finished with three catches for 28 yards.
Marlon Humphrey complains about "slander" of Lamar Jackson
He emphasized that if Jackson is healthy enough, he will play. Humphrey also acknowledged that Jackson usually prefers to speak for himself and might not appreciate his comments. As Jackson recovers, the Ravens are looking forward to his potential return against the Bengals this Sunday.
‘We need to do a better job’: Robbie Lawler reacts to Arman Tsarukyan, Dillon Danis press conference brawl
Robbie Lawler watched the chaos unfold at the RAF 14 press conference, where Arman Tsarukyan and Dillon Danis clashed, igniting a brawl that even involved Lawler's upcoming opponent, Khamzat Chimaev. Lawler, who is gearing up for his co-main event fight against Chimaev, maintained a calm demeanor during the ruckus. He later shared his thoughts, expressing disappointment over the spectacle.
Lawler emphasized the importance of professionalism in combat sports, especially with younger fans looking up to fighters. He believes that the focus should be on elevating the sport rather than creating drama. His message is clear: competitors need to set a better example.
