Aave Expands Stock-Backed USDC Loans on Base for Eligible Investors
Aave has rolled out its Equities Hub on Base, allowing eligible non-U.S. investors to borrow USDC against select tokenized U.S. equities without needing to sell their shares first. The case study highlights seven stocks that can be used as collateral, emphasizing the importance of market liquidity and oracle design in this new lending landscape.
The real question is how this will impact actual market activity rather than just expanding service offerings. Borrowing against tokenized stocks introduces leverage, which means if collateral values dip, it could trigger repayments or liquidations. Investors should be cautious about interpreting this announcement as a guaranteed economic outcome; it’s more about potential than immediate results.
For now, it’s crucial to monitor how the market adapts to this new service, especially regarding collateral approvals and handling market fluctuations. Aave’s approach could redefine liquidity access, but the long-term effects will depend on actual usage and how well risks are managed.

US Sanctions Two Russians Over North Korean IT Workers’ Crypto Cash-Outs
The US Treasury has sanctioned two Russian nationals, Ilya Boykov and Vitold Obertas, along with eight others, for facilitating North Korean IT workers in cashing out cryptocurrency through fraudulent employment. This network is reportedly generating hundreds of millions for North Korea, funding its regime and weapons programs.
Chainalysis traced payments from a developer involved in DeFi projects, who received stablecoin salaries that were converted into ETH and funneled through wallets linked to sanctioned entities. Boykov was identified as forwarding these funds to Garantex, a Russian exchange already under US sanctions. Obertas also acted as a financial intermediary for North Korean officials, converting nearly $2 million in crypto to fiat.
The sanctions extend to North Korean managers and their associated companies, with operations generating between $250 million and $600 million annually for the regime. The use of fake identities and AI-generated profiles is complicating detection, making it harder to spot these fraudulent activities.

Bitcoin’s recovery faces rising derivatives exposure and $643 million in ETF outflows
Bitcoin's sitting at a critical juncture with $643 million in ETF outflows recently reported. This is significant, especially as we gear up for the November 6 payrolls. The rising exposure in derivatives is adding another layer of complexity to the recovery narrative. It's like a double-edged sword—on one hand, it shows traders are positioning themselves, but on the other, it raises questions about demand sustainability.
With these outflows, we’re seeing a test of how much support there really is for Bitcoin at these levels. It’s a moment to watch closely, as this could influence market sentiment in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on how this plays out; it could shape the landscape as we approach those payroll numbers.

Strategy’s Michael Saylor says the next Bitcoin bull market has already begun
Michael Saylor is saying the next Bitcoin bull market is already underway. He believes we’re seeing more integration of Bitcoin with traditional finance, which is a positive signal for the space. However, he’s also cautious about monetary policy, noting it could still pose challenges ahead.
So, while there's a sense of optimism from Saylor, it’s important to keep an eye on how broader economic factors might influence the market. This could shape how Bitcoin performs in the coming months.

Chainalysis Finds $443B MENA Crypto Economy as UAE Growth Outpaces Region
TL;DR: The United Arab Emirates was reported to have grown 32% to about $104.8 billion, while Türkiye remained larger at around $144.5 billion. The reporting period ends in June 2026, so its totals should not be presented as October market activity. Chainalysis reported roughly $443.3 billion in cryptocurrency value received across the Middle East and North Africa during its July 2025–June 2026 study period, a decline of 1.4%. The study noted sharply different trajectories between individual countries. The most concrete starting point is the dated disclosure from Chainalysis.
US spot Ethereum ETFs log record 23-day net outflow streak
Ethereum spot ETFs have seen a record 23-day net outflow streak, which is a clear sign that institutional confidence is slipping. It's interesting, though, because while that’s happening, on-chain staking activity for Ethereum is actually on the rise. So, we’re seeing a bit of a disconnect here.
This outflow could indicate that institutional players are reassessing their positions, possibly due to market conditions or regulatory concerns. Meanwhile, the uptick in staking suggests that retail investors or long-term holders are still committed to the network, believing in Ethereum's fundamentals.
It’s a mixed bag, really. Keep an eye on how this plays out, as it could signal shifts in market sentiment moving forward. For listeners who want low-fee crypto exposure, our markets partner Kraken supports Ethereum — link in show notes.
SpaceX Stock Fell Below Its IPO Price, But Binance’s CZ Is Bullish
SpaceX shares closed at $134.72, just shy of their $135 IPO price, leaving early investors slightly underwater. Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, remains bullish, calling it one of the best stocks to hold long-term. Analysts are optimistic too, with a consensus suggesting an 86% upside to an average target of $250.34.
Options traders are preparing for a potential 14% price swing by mid-December, coinciding with the unlocking of shares on December 8. This could lead to increased volatility, as the last major unlock saw a price rise. CZ reassured that he’s not looking to sell SpaceX shares, despite some speculation.

Chainlink Launches CustodySync With Anchorage to Link Custody and DeFi Loans
TL;DR: Chainlink describes a workflow spanning collateral deposit, borrowing, repayment and liquidation. Keeping assets in custody does not automatically remove smart-contract, oracle, liquidation or legal-enforcement risk. Chainlink announced CustodySync on October 26 with Anchorage Digital as its initial partner. The service aims to synchronize information between qualified custodians and decentralised lending protocols, allowing eligible institutions to borrow against assets while retaining their existing custody arrangements.
