Trump says US looking ‘closely’ at report Nvidia CEO target of China spy plot
On October 31, Trump commented on a New York Times report suggesting that Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, was targeted in a Chinese spy plot. He expressed his admiration for Huang, calling him “brilliant,” and mentioned that the U.S. is investigating the claims closely. The report indicated that a Chinese executive linked to a Singapore-based data center had been passing information to Beijing. In response, China dismissed the allegations as “groundless speculation.”
Trump stated he hopes Huang will be okay and indicated that he would likely keep him as an advisor unless new evidence arises. Huang has previously advised Trump on AI policy and accompanied him on a trip to Beijing to meet President Xi Jinping. The situation underscores ongoing tensions between the U.S. and China regarding technology and semiconductor development.

Mr. Misri also recalled that he faced a major challenge during his posting in China as Ambassador, when India and China had an unprecedented confrontation in eastern Ladakh's Galwan Valley.

Sometimes a face makes clear what no statistic can. Michael Andersen, editor and founder of Europe from the Ground, graciously agreed to swap places with Adam Garfinkle and join us for our symposium tomorrow at 4:30 Paris time. The reading for this symposium is light. Not so the topic: Can Europe save Ukraine and itself from Putin? Or is its unity cracking? For fifteen years, Michael covered Ukraine and the rest of the former Soviet Union for Denmark’s Radio and Danish newspapers, mainly Politiken.

Why Trump’s White House Is About to Get Very Ugly: Author
The battle for influence around President Donald Trump will turn into a bloodbath as his second term winds down and Democrats threaten to weaken his power after the midterms, his longtime biographer predicted. Author Michael Wolff speculated that more and more people would jockey for influence in the president’s inner circle—even after former Justice Department official Alina Habba was busted locking down a $50 million deal with the family of a scandal-ridden Venezuelan billionaire who later secured a pardon from Trump.
