Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth not under consideration for Tennessee Senate seat
Pete Hegseth won’t be stepping into the Tennessee Senate seat. His ongoing role as Defense Secretary signals a sense of stability within the administration, which could influence how markets view the political landscape, especially within the GOP. It seems like the party is keeping its focus on maintaining a steady course rather than shaking things up with new candidates.
This could have implications for how investors perceive political risk in the coming months. With Hegseth staying put, it might ease some uncertainty that could ripple through markets. Just something to keep an eye on as we navigate the political scene.

Bitcoin Trader Lost $15 Million in Minutes After the Wall Street Crash
A single trader lost 201 BTC, worth about $15.6 million, in eight successive liquidations. The wipeout came as a sharp Wall Street selloff rattled crypto markets. The episode shows how quickly high leverage can erase large positions during sudden market swings. A liquidation occurs when an exchange forcibly closes a leveraged position because the trader’s margin can no longer cover losses. It often happens during sharp price moves. According to Lookonchain, the trader suffered eight forced closures amid heavy panic selling.
World Liberty's WLFI Buyback Could Draw on Stablecoin Reserve Income

What Does the WLFI Buyback Say About USD1? World Liberty framed the program as a way to deepen governance participation, giving long-term holders more voting weight.

Crypto exchanges tout cold storage ratios after Binance attack
Cold storage ratios are in the spotlight after the recent Binance attack, where around $6.36 billion was stolen from its hot wallet. Coinbase is leading the charge, stating it keeps over 99% of customer assets in offline storage. Gate is not far behind, reporting 88.26% in cold storage and launching a “Proof of Security” framework to enhance transparency around asset distribution.
Upbit, the largest exchange in South Korea, claims 99.17% of its assets are offline, aiming to keep hot wallet holdings below 1%. Other exchanges like OKX and Bithumb also report strong cold storage ratios, but the figures vary due to different reporting methods.
While these ratios provide some reassurance, they don’t tell the whole story. Even cold wallets can be vulnerable if security measures aren’t robust. So, it’s worth keeping an eye on how exchanges manage their security protocols moving forward.
