Cornell faculty vote no confidence in university's leadership

The demonstrations come days after the US midterm elections ushered in a wave of Democrats promising to clamp down on data centers. THE HAGUE: Protesters broke into a construction site for a new Microsoft data centre in Amsterdam on Friday (Nov 6), with some climbing a crane and setting off flares while others clashed with police. Cornell faculty vote no-confidence in university leadership over alleged gang rape
The vote is not binding but marks a strong symbolic rebuke of administrators at the Ivy League college in New York state. According to a lawsuit, a female student was assaulted by seven male students at a fraternity house on campus. Following her initial allegations in 2024, Cornell shut down the fraternity - a male social club - and temporarily suspended the accused students, two of whom were later expelled. But critics say the college was too lenient, and protests in several US cities last month demanded accountability. It passed by a vote of 75-50, with five abstentions.

Apologies for the lateness on this one. I was about to post it and realized I had made some errors and had to rewrite large parts of it. Look out for the Week in Review on Sunday and have a nice weekend. A new feature I’ve added for Premium Subscribers (which I feel the need to clarify is different from normal paid subscribers, read more about that here) is that I have started asking opponents of mine for their thoughts on a hand we played. Thus far I’ve gotten comments from Chris Brewer, Isaac Haxton and Nick Petrangelo, with more to come in the future.
