Dean’s LIVE with Ken Harbaugh: The Wipeout, The Reckoning, And The Letter Elon Never Wanted
Ken Harbaugh is a former Navy pilot, a Yale Law grad, and the host of The Ken Harbaugh Show on MeidasTouch. He flew for the people MAGA pretends to love and then spent years watching those same people get sold out for a photo op. Nobody dismantles the “strong on the military” con faster, which is why he’s a regular here. Subscribe to his Substack at thekenharbaughshow.substack.com and his YouTube at @TheKenHarbaughShow. He’s worth every second.
Here’s what we covered.
1. The Wipeout
Ken called it what it was: a complete and total repudiation. Not a midterm correction, not a “message.” A wipeout. The House flipped hard, the Senate went with it, and the MAGA brand took the kind of beating that doesn’t buff out. Ken’s read is that the GOP didn’t lose because of turnout math or messaging. They lost because every single thing they promised voters was a lie, and the bill came due on the same night. Groceries, tariffs, the military, masked federal agents in the streets. People voted like their country was being stolen because it was.
What’s next is subpoena power. Chairs. Gavels. The Senate Armed Services Committee that was sitting on its hands now has a reason to stand up, and the House can finally do what it was built to do.
2. Hegseth Can’t Hide
Impeachment is coming for Pete Hegseth and Ken didn’t flinch on why. The man gutted the JAG corps, fired the officers whose job was to say no to illegal orders, bragged about it, then ran a Pentagon that answered to one man’s Truth Social feed. The strikes on boats in international waters with no legal review, the use of active troops as domestic props, the purge of generals who wouldn’t kneel. None of that goes away because he’s a TV guy. War crimes don’t have a statute of limitations, and the people who signed the orders are the people who sign them.
Ken was blunt. The damage to the US military’s reputation is generational. Allies won’t share intel with a department that leaks on Signal. Recruits won’t join a force that’s being used against their own neighbours. Rebuilding it starts with putting the guy who broke it under oath.
3. ICE Prosecutions, All The Way Down
Everyone wants Homan, Noem and Bovino in a courtroom and they’ll get there. But Ken’s bigger point is the one nobody wants to say out loud: the agents too. The ones who covered their faces, grabbed citizens off sidewalks, shot a woman in Minneapolis, and did it because they were told to. “I was following orders” got litigated at Nuremberg and lost. Ken’s position is that every agent who violated a constitutional right knowing it was a violation gets investigated, charged, and named. Not revenge. Deterrence. The next guy who’s handed a mask and a quota needs to know the mask comes off in court.
4. The Letter To Elon
Then the bombshell. The Senate Armed Services Committee just sent Elon Musk a letter demanding answers about his throttling of Starlink and Starshield over Ukraine during active combat operations, and about the full record of his contacts with Vladimir Putin. Read that in plain English: the richest man on earth, holding billions in Pentagon contracts, is being asked by the committee that oversees those contracts whether he cut off a US ally’s battlefield comms at the request of a Russian dictator.
Ken, who has actually flown missions that depend on comms not disappearing mid-fight, was as angry as I’ve seen him. Starshield is a military program. If Musk toggled it on Putin’s say-so, that isn’t a business decision. That’s a question for the Espionage Act. And the Senate just put it in writing.
The Through Line
Every one of these stories is the same story. The wipeout happened because people finally got sick of watching crimes go unpunished. Hegseth, Homan, Noem, the agents, Musk. None of them are afraid of a hearing. They’re afraid of a prosecutor. Ken’s closing point is the only thing that actually fixes America, and it’s not a vibe shift or a unity speech. It’s law. Real law, applied to powerful people, in public, with consequences that stick. Everything else is theatre.
Until that happens, the wipeout is just a scoreboard. After it happens, it’s a country again.
