Not that we can learn anything from old, dead, white guys, but William Shakespeare certainly nailed it in “Hamlet” with the line, “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.” These days, we thinks that Democrats doth protest too much when asked to make it clear that they don’t support socialism.
Monday, the House Rules Committee considered a non-binding resolution condemning socialism. In an earlier era, it would have been a unanimous slam-dunk vote, as no Democrats were dumb enough to think that socialism could ever work or was in any way compatible with American values or economic sense. However, in this case, the resolution not only didn’t get a single Democrat vote, but it set off a convoluted brouhaha.
The Democrats stormed and ranted about considering it at all, denouncing it as a waste of time, claiming that it did nothing to lower gas or grocery prices (is that now the criteria for every bill Congress considers?), and proposing irrelevant hypotheticals, like if Trump took control of 20% of Kroger in a national crisis, would THAT be “socialism”? We think of this as the “No investigation ever fed a hungry child” argument, a classic Democrat dodge used to deflect anyone from looking into whatever they’ve been doing. It’s also known as the “It’s time to ‘move on’” evasion. Lawyers know it as the “Bang the table” defense.
We won’t even try to recount the House hubbub in detail, but ** this article from Fox News** will give you an idea of the hysterical absurdity. All the energy and creativity they put into avoiding voting to condemn socialism tells you more about them than they want you to know.
Put aside all the political theatrics, and what’s happening here is obvious: The Democrats know that all the energy in their party is coming from young socialists, and they’d sell their mothers to Satan to stay in power. But most Americans are smart enough to know what a toxic brew socialism really is. It’s one of those ideas George Orwell described as being so foolish, only an intellectual could believe it. So they have to pretend, as loudly as possible, that there is no rising threat of socialism in America, thereby preserving the energy and turnout socialists are bringing to their party while fooling the rest of the voters into electing socialists without realizing it.
So let’s cut through all the histrionics and get to the point: If you don’t want to waste Congress’ time, then when you’re asked to take a stand on whether socialism stinks or not, vote “Yes” and move on.
With the 25 th anniversary of the September 11
If you’re wondering what kind of judge would block the confession of a man accused of planning an attack that killed nearly 3,000 people, then check out this article for some background. Turns out his specialty is environmental law (he probably thinks the real crime on 9/11 was all the smoke), and he has a history of believing that the conservative culture of the military makes members more susceptible to becoming right-wing extremists.
Yes, that’s the real extremist threat represented by the 9/11 attacks: Conservatives in the US military. As proof of this, he wrote that 12% of those charged with participating in the January 6th Capitol riot had some form of military experience.
We could make a more convincing case that federal judges are more prone to left-wing extremism than that veterans are prone to right-wing extremism. For the record, about 7% of the US population in general has military experience. That’s not a tendency to commit terrorism, it’s a rounding error. Just as giving this biased judge any say over this incredibly important case was a major error in judgment that needs to be corrected immediately.
The Supreme Court voted 5-4 (with Chief Justice Roberts joining the three liberal Justices in opposition) to ** allow construction to continue on the White House ballroom**. Roberts argued that the White House qualified as part of DC parks and federal properties that require Congressional approval to alter. The Trump Administration’s attorneys argued that it’s part of national security with the ballroom covering a new, underground secure bunker.
Naturally, this isn’t the last word, since no court ruling on anything Trump does, no matter how high, seems to pause the endless meddling by activist judges. It just means that the plaintiff didn’t have standing to bring the challenge, since it was based on one preservation expert complaining that she was offended by the new ballroom plans. Well, so sorry, your majesty! That means this could return to the SCOTUS for even more meddling.
We’re sure the Dems will find some other way to challenge it and keep challenging it until Trump is gone. Then they can waste all the effort and money tearing down a beautiful ballroom that even Obama said we desperately need, all because Trump built it. We believe the legal term for this is “psychosis.”
Finally, in the ** latest developments with Iran**, the economic sanctions are starting to bite hard. Iran’s President offered to return to the “memorandum of understanding” if the US will, too. Since that was the MOU that Iran pretty much ignored when it was in force, we’ll see if President Trump goes for that.
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the Russian people stand in solidarity with Tehran, but we suspect it’s mostly him and not the people, since “the people” are the only thing Tehran has shown no interest in. Putin isn’t famous for caring about their opinion, either.
1. Starting today, the DHS is preparing to launch a new surge of voter fraud investigations in nine states. Revolver News ** has a good overview** of what they’re looking for and what they’ve found so far. That includes over 200,000 mail-in ballots with zero chain-of-custody documentation or logs in 2020 in Arizona, a state Trump lost by 10,457 votes.
2. Democratic Political Strategy 101: CBS News published a Muslim Senate candidate’s offensive deleted social media posts downplaying 9/11. Response: ** Accuse CBS of Islamophobia** for publishing accurate information.
3. We get so many such stories that when we type “Medic---,” our PCs automatically suggest filling it in with “Medicare fraud.”
4. Why are these stories so common? Two Congress members ** writing in the Washington Examiner** report that the GSA estimates the federal government could be losing up to $500 billion a year to fraud. That’s about $1 million a minute, or enough to pay the mortgage for two months for every family in America. Although we shouldn’t say that or else Democrats will create a program to do that very thing, and then people will defraud it.
5. Two people are known dead and ** one is still missing following** devastating flash flooding Saturday along Bright Angel Creek in the Grand Canyon. As of this writing, rangers believe there’s nobody missing other than the one known person. We hope you’ll join us in praying for the safe return of the flood victim.
6. Sad News: Our prayers and good wishes for R&B icon Gladys Knight. ** She announced** that she will be pulling back from performing after appearing dazed and disoriented during recent live appearances. Her fans expressed grave concerns for her health. We pray that whatever the issue is, that it’s only temporary.
7. Worst Job Listing Of The Day! Hillary Clinton is ** seeking to hire an intern** with a “high level of discretion.” Is this really an intern for Bill?
