Morning all. As the coffee begins to flow in what is a truly glorious morning I’ve begun sifting through the data and will be reporting back throughout the day. Let’s start our morning - glorious, joyful, prideful, ever so hopeful - with some headlines:
We cannot forget this Tweet, one of the most prophetic in the terrible age of Trump (yes this real, and yes it is still on Twitter):
I’ve updated my live, evolving post-election day memo. Take a look and offer suggestions, improvements, etc.
We will have time over the next few days to talk about what happened, understand the historic scale of it all and what it means for our fight for a new birth of freedom, here and everywhere. Here are a few initial nuggets:
What happened in Texas last night was one of the biggest political earthquakes in American history. We won every statewide race in a state we have not won a statewide race in 32 years. The House flipped, and the Senate may follow. It’s a staggering collapse of the one most powerful Republican Parties in the modern era, an extraordinary repudiation. TX Dem Chair Kendall Scudder called me last night to thank Hopium for all that we did to help make this happen this cycle.
We will now have Hispanic governors in the two largest states in the nation; America’s first Black Speaker of the House; the first Black woman ever elected governor in US history will take the helm in Georgia; a Native American woman will now be governor of New Mexico, a Senator from Minnesota, and perhaps Alaska too.
We are on track for approx. 258 seats in the House, 55-56 in the Senate. Just stunning. Ballots are still out in AK and MS but there is optimism in both states.
My friends spend time looking at the margins, the size of our wins. I still can’t believe what I am looking at. Here’s a sample:
Congratulations everyone. As the coffee flows I still cannot believe the scale of our win, how far we went into red states and red places, how clear a signal that has been sent to the world of repudiation and rebuke of this terrible, terrible man and all the harm he has brought to our country and the people of the world. Last night we had the election we all wanted to have and I want to thank all of you for everything you did to make it happen.
It is a new day in America, a new and far better day.
There is much to celebrate today. Be loud and proud my friends, loud and proud!
More, soon - Simon
