Do You Not Like Robert Gould Shaw?

Earlier today I did a podcast interview about my forthcoming biography of Robert Gould Shaw. After we finished recording I was asked whether I like Shaw. Something about the tone of my writing about Shaw, especially in the early chapters, which focus on his time in Europe and at Harvard, led him to ask this question.
