Much like last week, this week too our social media feeds were dominated by AI-generated retro snaps. It came as no surprise, then, that some of the most-read stories on HT’s Trending section were all about ChatGPT transformations to channel ‘80s nostalgia. But that wasn’t all that caught our readers’ attention. Here’s a look at some of the other stories that made waves this week:
Woman leaves ₹24 LPA job to start homestay
My colleague Trisha Sengupta spoke to Tarana Chauhan, a woman who gave up her ₹24 lakh annual salary to restore her century-old ancestral home in Rohru, Himachal Pradesh, and turn it into a homestay. Chauhan realised that a “successful career” did not always translate into a “fulfilling life”, prompting her to leave the corporate world and start a new chapter in the hills.
Today, there are months when she earns less than Rs 1 lakh, but 33-year-old Chauhan is not complaining. “Because what I’ve gained isn’t just another source of income but with it, the ability to decide how I spend my time, where I live and what kind of work I want to build my life around,” she explained.
SBI manager quits to start yoga studio
Staying with the theme of career pivots, another story that resonated with readers was that of an SBI employee who left her job to start her own yoga studio in Meerut. Snigdha Bose, founder of Tulaa Wellness Studio in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, shared a viral video explaining why she decided to resign. She cited mental exhaustion as one of the reasons behind the decision.
“I felt this extreme pressure, had a headache every day, I used to take painkillers every day, and I did not like that life. I knew I needed to change something inside me, and that is the reason I took this massive step for myself,” Bose said.
