Prince Harry sent flowers to Queen Elizabeth’s burial site at Windsor Castle to mark what would have been her 100th birthday yesterday, and, with impressive media laddering skills, made sure the world knew all about his heartwarming gesture.

The gesture was reported by * People* magazine within hours, attributed to the familiar sourcing convention of “People understands.”

The fact that Harry’s floral arrangement at the King George VI Memorial Chapel was publicized the same day it arrived is delightful.

Harry wasn’t invited to a London reception to mark the centenary. Nor was Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser and dearest friend, a subject about which Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl had plenty to say on the Royalist podcast last night. I was horrified to learn from Katie that Angela wasn’t even invited to contribute to the recent exhibition of the Queen’s clothing.

The exclusion of Dame Angela is shameful, elitist and confounding.

Meanwhile, Harry’s team have denied a story in the New York Post that the couple have trademarked their children’s names as a “complete fabrication.”
