There are easier ways to celebrate selling a successful business than getting punched in the face.
Brian McNally apparently didn’t get that memo.
Brian built a healthcare staffing company from scratch, hit $10 million in revenue, landed on the Inc. 500 list, and was on pace to double his business.
Then COVID showed up.
In six weeks, half his revenue disappeared.
Instead of dismantling his team, Brian doubled down on the people and principles that got him there. He eventually sold the company, but the lessons he learned along the way went well beyond the balance sheet.
And then there’s the MMA fighting. Yes, he willingly stepped into a cage in his 40s. Apparently, surviving entrepreneurship wasn’t enough punishment.
🍸 On this week’s episode of The Liquid Lunch Project, we get into some pretty interesting territory with Brian:
Building to sell: How do you create a company someone actually wants to buy?
The culture question: Are your company values real, or just expensive wall decorations?
Surviving a financial gut punch: What happens when half your revenue disappears practically overnight?
Life after the exit: What good is a big payday if you’ve neglected your health, relationships, and everything outside the office?
Brian doesn’t offer a polished success story where everything magically works out. He’s refreshingly candid about the setbacks, the mistakes, and the uncomfortable decisions.
And he’s got a pretty blunt message for owners who keep promising themselves they’ll start enjoying life after they sell the business.
You might want to hear this one before another five years go by.
